George Cropper has a video out

I agree with what George is saying though. Why not make a video denouncing them.  They are youtubers. Videos are what they make.

I understand the internet is not always real life but LD and THGM should know that actions have consequences.

I hope Martin issues court proceedings against them for inflaming people to have a go at him or at least demonising him  I don't think they would have a leg to stand on.

Also where is Richard in all of this?

So far only Neil and Kim seem to have said anything about it. I have a lot of respect for them both.

is Richard top twat gaming bastard?

If it is, I imagine he’s probably feeling pretty stupid for putting his wife (and kids) in the firing line for a takedown notice on his video on his channel.

George might be correct. In that they thought a woman fronting the begging video would garner more support, for reasons*, and from there it gets into some shady shit, complex enough that I can’t express it clearly myself.

suffice to say

*

Spoiler

Tits mate! TITS!!!

im not a misogynist, I’ve just boiled it down to a single succinct possible reason.

I’ve used it as a catch-all for such scene tropes as:

female vulnerability

incels

white knights

optics

etc.

Do you think minor internet celebrities have tax scams on the go like fucking Amazon or something, jesus christ.

Absolutely hilarious how little work people here seem to think is involved in making videos. I do one a month, which is bare minimum by YT standards, and it takes a fucking age to put together - people doing multiple per week, even if they're pretty low quality, still involves a lot of work. But hey they're all terrible bastards for trying to get paid for their work, also they're all tax cheats.

Again: jesus christ.

I don't think anyone has has said people who make money from YouTube are terrible bastards.

But do you know who are terrible bastards? The people being discussed who are behaving like terrible bastards.

Justified response IMO.

I don't produce YouTube videos but if I made stuff a tenth as original / insightful / amusing as what Bransfield and Dudley do - and had to deal with insinuations of 'ebegging' because I had a patreon or virtual tip jar - it'd probably piss me right off.

The insuniations of ebegging were much more about people making videos saying they are going to be destitute unless viewers donated money to them. Not people who happen to have a Patreon to cover the costs of making a video.

Just googled Slopes' Games Room because they seem to be talked about quite a bit and it's a name I've heard a few times but never come across on youtube. Their twitter feed appeared in the search and I saw this:

EDIT: Wow, just googled Tipster and Quartering as well, they have some controversy around them, particularly Quartering.

Quartering used to come up a lot during Gamergate but I can't remember if he was pro or anti.

Well, I think you can guess.

Also, if you watch his videos or those by other odious creeps you are enabling them even if you disagree with the repugnent hate and harrassment they trade in.

I'm sorry if this upsets anyone who feels these people are hardworking because they create lots of videos.

Who do you mean by "odious creeps"? Just Top Hat/ Lady Dickhead (lol) and the Quartering? Or all the UK retro YouTuber lot?

Because I don't agree that simply refusing to comment or take sides makes someone an "odious creep." Obviously defending the does, though.

Tipster is an idiot, Quartering is just toxic.

I mean the likes of Quartering and Top Hat.

Personally I don't think UK retro YouTubers have a responsibility to make videos condeming what's been going on. Although it's wise to put something on social media distancing themselves from it for their own sake if they've ever had any sort of connection.

To be fair I didn't even know Kim and Slopes had any association with Top Hat and Decade. I group them together because retro, but it wasn't like they were appearing or referencing each other in the videos. However, nice to see them acknowledge it.

I actually didn't know dickhead/decade was linked to Top Hat until this all blew up. She pops up on my twitter feed from time to time, presumably because I follow a few retro types like Kim and Slopes. But I never watched any of her content so I just assumed she was some random retro streamer. I only knew Slopes was a retro guy because I met him a few times at PlayExpo - I knew him from his videos about crowdfunding scams. I also used to talk to Ashens, Atomic Kitten and Guru Larry when I was at Antstream and we ended up partnering/ making content with most of them (not Top Hat though). Are they all in the clique/circle jerk? Who else is?

My Youtube videos are terrible, though 😂

I completely stay out of the ‘retro scene’ mainly because of stuff like this, which happens far too often for my liking.

imagine when this stuff is history and covered in retro gamer in the future…
