The site is down now that is true but I’d never count the vermin behind such sites as down and out completely.

They’re in a circle-jerk clique, the big players of the retro scene; they get eager up-and-comers to research, write and edit their videos who are happy to be exploited in the hope of building up their own “personal brand profile” and joining the big league, while there’s an omertà among the elites of the scene not to overly criticise each other publicly. Whole cesspit stinks.

They're all able to live "the life" by making youtube videos about games for a living so they are naturally protective of the fortunate spot they have found themselves in.

With the way many people talk about youtube algorithms, channel growth, subscribing, likes, etc it does come off like the whole culture is fast and loose to the point where many who do make it become dragons keen on guarding their treasure. Should someone dare disrupt their treasure horde then they will respond by spitting fire until the disruptor goes away or burns out altogether.

I dunno, I think you guys are over-egging it a bit. Probably a bit of what you're talking about does go on. But on the other hand they make some great content - a few years ago who would have thought there would be a whole little mini-industry making semi-professional retro content jus for us UK retro-heads? And I'm sure most of them are just about scraping a living together from it rather than raking in millions. 

What these two did is blatantly wrong but it just amounts to a bit of stupidity really, hardly a major crime. And I don't even watch their videos (they're at the bottom of the league when it comes to quality output) so it's not a case that I'm a fan defending them. I just think using terms like cess-pit/circle jerk is a bit strong. Let alone the misogynistic and abuse-filled rants that George comes out with!
