Top Hat and Lady Decade’s videos are absolutely rubbish.

YouTube retro gaming is a saturated market so no idea why anyone bothers watching such dreck.

 

And having worked in publishing and seen some unintentional copyright snafus, that letter is the most polite and reasonable I’ve ever seen.

 

It’s mad that instead of feeling embarrassed about their mistake and thinking “let’s keep this quiet because it makes us look clueless and pay the small amount of money - lesson learned” they thought “we could use this to screw money out of our viewers - they’ll never find out the truth”.

 

And using their kids as props!

 

A side effect of this is I think it may people less likely to financially support YouTubers in this niche.

I think the fact that she showed pics of her kids (Won’t someone think of the children) lost them a shit ton of ‘respect’.

 

And now the letters out in the wild not being as strops as it was made out to be it’s just another thing to add to the nonsense.

 

i think I read on twitter (so it must be true lol) the Patreon donations went up a lot after the video went out

well, after the expertly laid on, organised, and hosted event (eg. dc soul caliber on a vga projector with sticks, and a preview of Future Wars by @JPickford ),  me @Bushby and @Lazychu(rip) retired to our hotel a few doors down from the venue, and set up an Xbox, where we played Simpsons arcade to completion, and a few games of fifa2002.

 

I have similarly fond memories of Newport, Gwent, even if the hotel was 10 miles from the town.

Do you recall the date of the NUL meeting? I recall you offered extra money, and I accepted. I really respected what you did on that day and I don't think I have ever acknowledged it before. Thank you Sean, you are a good person.
