I'll have to drive it, it should be slow out of the blocks and then explode with power.

I see the leagues are back, and it also looks like they've calmed down a bit with three attempts at a single 'event' rather than having to do something every single day...

think i was on a stage with lots of hairpins and hills which was maybe making it seem worse than it would be on a more normal stage, maybe it is realistic i don't know, but it wasn't fun.

thanks for the heads up one the league thing, had a quick go, wasn't expecting it to take ~35 mins! what do we think the best tires to use are, defaults seem to be snow tires but i tried tarmac ones one one stage, but yeah 10% snow parts were a bit slow. finished 2 places behind CrichStand!

I went with snow tyres for my first run and I wasn't too far behind you on the leaderboard with a few mistakes.  I think the time you lose on the really snowy sections is more than the time you gain on the dry parts tbh, so I'm pretty sure the snow tyres are the way to go.

Tip for anyone doing the solo qualifier; use wet tyres for the first two stages and softs for the rest of the event.

Ok that Team League qualifying rally at Monte Carlo is a pig. I hate hairpins in this game.

I absolutely love them!  Defo don't always get them right though, such a delicate balance of how long you pull the handbrake, throttle amount etc.

also don't really get why tyres don't come in sets of 4 but whatever.

Pretty common for rally drivers to use offset tyre compounds, so they might have hards on the front left and rear right and softs on the other wheels.  I like that you can do that in this game :)

Let's say you were doing a leg made up of two epic stages (or a single epic and two normal stages), you could use hards as above on two of the wheels, and softs on the others.  After the first stage swap the two softs and leave the hards for the rest of the leg, that way you get even usage across the 4 tyres, rather than ending up with at least two completely destroyed softs at the end.

^ that's cool, I'm glad it's in there for people want it. I still wish there was a career lite mode. And thanks for the tyre tip, I'll try the snow ones next time :)

I find the hairpins tricky in this too, getting the braking right is tricky but that's sort of normal, but in this it's getting the power down afterwards is also tricky, I've been pretty conservative there as it's quite easy to spin from too much throttle I find.

WRC 10 had a Season mode which starts you in Junior WRC or WRC 2 and is the rallies only with all the management nonsense from career mode removed. At the end of each season were offered a drive with another team so you could work your way to the WRC cars.  Is that mode not in Generations?

It is. I made the mistake of turning down msport and signing for skoda, the garage is a shithole. Kind of welcome to scum class.

Yep, it's there in Generations too, still called Season mode.

I've done all 3 attempts on the Monte qualifier now, I defo think winter tyres are the best thing to use for the whole thing.  Dry tyres would be fine for the first two stages if it wasn't for the massive downpour at the end of stage 1, the winter tyres seem to really help there and they're not slow on the dry bits either.

Final attempt was by far my fastest.  Has anyone found a way to filter the leaderboard to league/friends only?

No, and I did the same, I did see my usual tormentor ahead of me as usual.

I love the look of this and was obsessed with the early Colin McRae games but didn't end up getting on so well with Dirt Rally. Had a look on the PS Store and while this, 9 and 10 are full whack, for some reason the deluxe version of 9 is on at £8.69 so that's me all sorted, assuming I'm not about to find out it's the ugly cousin of the series.

Where is it £8.69? I can't find it

Yep @SharkyOB is right. As annual releases they generally get better each year but the changes are fairly subtle. Generations is the best and like us doing the league, the online has plenty of users if that’s your thing.
 I played a bit of 9 and 10 on PS4/PS5 and they’re both great. £8.69 is a bargain.

Yeah 9 is great. Id even say if your more into arcadey games then its better than the more recent ones.

had another go of the team rally, used the snow tires as recommended, thanks Sharky. Went faster and it did seem better but hard to know how much was down to the tyres as also used a different car and crashed a bit less. Think the ford is possibly a bit easier to get out of the hairpins than the hyundai.

I’ve only ever used the Hyundai on stuff, with the various WRC games. Not sure why?!?!? Always just stick with the default tyres too. Never thought to switch them out. Will have to see how much difference it makes.

last go of the team event thing and went slower, tried a different car with different tires again, no idea which was fastest really, using the wet tires instead of snow on the first 2 stages seemed fine. think it's probably more down to which run had least crashes. i usually use the hyundai too but think it was a bit spin happy out of hairpins so maybe the ford is better for this event.

In the daily, if you're flying solo, then full wets is the ay to go in the Toyota.

As for the audi, if you're not using manual gears and revving the snot out of it, you've got no chance. You have to keep the lump of shit on boost or it's painful.

Rallymuk Team now up to 8 members.

quite amazing how close on times me, @CrichStandand @marshare.
They’ve changed the way the leaderboards work in the daily and weekly team events and I’m not sure what I’m looking at? Also we’re ranked in “Amateur” but when you look on the info tab, there’s no “Amateur” league ranking?

@CrichStand what a time on the Chile daily in the Fiesta. 20th in the world atm, very fast

Cheers man! Should have been top 5 today but I took a hairpin really tight, the front off-side wheel just touched the inside of the corner and for some reason the game decided to give me a 5sec penalty. 🤦🏻 Some very fruity language got shouted at the TV. 😂

I’ve no idea what’s going on with the League setup either. Like you say there is no Amateur League listed, yet we appear to be in the er.......Amateur League. Makes sense! All the other leagues I’ve viewed look totally different, with hardly any players per group. Also, I can only see today’s Daily times, doesn’t seem to be any way of viewing prior events. So, can’t see where i finished each day........which is a bit shit. Can’t see MUK Team Mates times either or if they’re even taking part still.
