OK, I managed to get there by jamming my controller under a pillow . I sent a request to join the club.

Nice one. Yeah, a few design decisions are a bit baffling.

This week it’s a weird one. The 5 gravel Super Special stages in the game done at night in the 2007 Focus WRC.

Only running for 5 days to keep it to a traditional Sunday finish so these little stages will only take a couple of minutes each.
If you’ve not joined the club there are unlimited spaces and all are welcome. I post them weekly and they are aimed at being do-able in half an hour or so.

@Sane @ryodi @wullie do you fancy a go? No obligation to do it every week, just a little bit of rllmuk competition.

As long as there's also no obligation to be fast, I'm in! Should get a chance to have a proper go again at the weekend so will have a look then, cheers

As a well-timed indicator of my prowess, only today I marked my promotion to WRC2 by completely stacking it in Portugal when confronted with a slightly gentle turn

Picked this up in the sale, seems nice having only done the tutorial so far.

Be interested in joining the club - can’t promise good times though! I’m using controller rather than a wheel etc if that makes a difference.

is it just a case of scrolling through the giant list until I find it? I assumed there was a search somewhere but from above comments it look like not?

Hi, yes I think so. The club is in there somewhere

Another annoyance is that cross play is integrated (yay) but console players can’t see Steam player’s usernames, we just see “Player12345”. Makes it harder to remember who is who

Nice - will trawl through tonight.

I'm on PS5 - had heard it made decent use of the rumble so went for it over the Xbox version. Got the "Fully Loaded" edition but not even sure what I got over normal edition yet 😂

I think its staff for career mode.

I'm a controller user too. While it's probably possible to get better times with a wheel I have to say this game works really well on a controller.

I’m on PS5 with the controller and WRC makes great use of the DualSense. From “feeling” the different surfaces, to the resistance of the  pedals on the triggers and little touches like gravel pinging off the car through the pads speaker, it’s all done brilliantly and makes a big difference. Once you get used to it there’s no going back!

Yeah that sounds great, makes me wish the Xbox had something like it. Good haptics are underrated!

There was a glitch on this when it first came out, that meant the haptics and resistant triggers stopped working. It was nuts how different the game felt and played without them.  It was like the car was just floating along with no grip and it wasn’t as exciting. It was almost like playing a different game!

I’ve got a Series S, fantastic console and I love the pad but, the DualSense is absolutely amazing and truly feels next gen. It does motion and touch controls really well too. Only problem is it’s currently under utilised. Stuff like Returnal, Astro Bot, WRC, Resi 4 use it amazingly well but most games just don’t bother to get the most out of it.

That bug still exists on Xbox, it's happened to me a few times. Even with the Xbox' normal rumble it's as you say, without it it feels floaty and uninvolved. Had to restart the game entirely for it to go back to normal.

Edit - Found a solution. Go into the CONTROLS settings. Delete any Button Bindings preset you may have. Then go across into SETTINGS. Select DELETE and then RESET. Now go into the vibration setting below and adjust a parameter. The game will then ask you if you’d like to setup a custom setting. Select “yes”, then return the parameter you adjusted to its original setting and exit back to the game. Seems to sort it out. Hopefully doesn’t keep happening.

What. The. Actual. Fuck. Having done the above and sorted out the lack of vibration bug.........there are now no engine sounds for the cars at all. 🤪 Ok, quit to the start menu, reload and audio and vibration should be fully working.

@Sane If it keeps happening, try this and see if it sorts it out. It works on PS5, never had a problem with it again! 👍🏻

Thanks! I'll try that if it happens again.

12 minutes with the pad stuck to the right, wild.

I have sent a request for the club now though!

Oh my life. I better accept it then, luckily that’s only a few clicks.

I've done all the stages in the event, if anything in particular makes my total very beatable it'll be the Kenya stage where I ended up upside-down twice.

Having followed that by tackling Kenya for the first time in career mode it wasn't bad luck, it seems that Kenya is just out to get me

I did part of the weekly club rally yesterday, is it correct there's no retries? I wasn't really prepared for that 😅.

Yeah, one and done. No service parks this week so high risk / reward.

I think I need a lot more practice before I can get anywhere near a decent go at that to be honest. I'm still finding it very difficult to drive just by instructions, in career mode I generally need a good few retries for each race. I simply crash too much if I don't know sort of what's coming up. Also I'm still in the junior league so not used to the faster cars. All this to say I'll keep practicing and hopefully slowly improve because I do really like the game :).

New challenge for the week is the Lancia 037.

I nearly set the rally on gravel but I’m glad I didn’t- this thing is lethal even on tarmac. Good luck!

I've done the first stage in the Lancia. No idea how my time fares but I consider it a triumph that I didn't pile it into a tree or off a cliff, the thing's a beast.

Cool track and car selection! Unfortunately for me this is completely impossible, I just keep bumping into stuff and spinning out. This car's like a rocket :o

A win in the Lancia 037 for @spatular
I’ve done the last few rallies on pad and this one was super tricky. I feel like a wheel would have helped? That thing is evil, sorry.

Our club is now rated as “Cat”….no idea

Next weekly rally is up, I just need a screenshot. It’s a lot less stressful, honest.

Hell of a time to realise that quitting out on a stage gives you a 30 minute penalty.

Made up for that disappointment by tackling Sweden in career mode and finishing a stage in the best way possible
