It should have been a corner for Liverpool anyway. Haaland was kept quiet and the best team won. Arsenal’s title to lose now.

I don't think anyone can argue that the City goal should have stood, but the weird conspiracy theories about the refs being against Liverpool and doing everything they can to stop you guys winning ever again makes you all look like a bunch of Wolves/Arsenal fans.

You know very well its only the sub section of idiots fans that say those things. The ones that phone in 606 and call for Klopp to go etc. Every club has them, even your own.

The majority of us just think the refs are crap all around, not just against us.

It's all over the Liverpool thread here too!

I mean, I don't think the officials are competent enough to successfully carry out a conspiracy.

That one is a recent favourite of mine.

One example is "all over" is it 🙄

Shall we go into the United thread and pull a silly comment and brandish you all with it? Because there's plenty in there.

I don't think a draw against *that* Newcastle side is that bad of a result. It's hardly Steve Bruce's side or anything.

This Liverpool side managed to beat them so it can’t be that difficult.

I could quote some more if you like! You know when they are good as they usually get liked by chewylegs.

0-0 at home isn't exactly anything to write home about and then watching their most hated rivals beat the team that battered them the other day is going to sting a little.

It's the only thing I can think of that means he must spend so much time focusing on Liverpool so much.

Do me the decency if putting my name to it when you're quoting me, yeah? I maintain that referees treat us differently, and Klopp getting sent off for Bernardo's foul on Salah hardly disproves me. I may go overboard when emotions are high, but if anyone can show me as many baffling decisions going against any team as us in the last few seasons I'm happy to watch it and say if I'm wrong.

Much like political journalism, players and managers never really get challenged or called-out for the rubbish they spout or their myopia over stuff their teams get away with, do they? (This is a general observation, not related to anything in particular.)

I was being nice by not putting your name to that post!

Complaining about people complaining about the refereeing is far worse.

It’s sport. It’s emotional. People say stupid shit like that for every team. It’s all part of the fun. Getting worked up about it and cherry picking posts from other threads is just utterly fucking tedious.

Klopp was sent off for being a dickhead, he is every game towards officials - he has even said himself today he deserved a red for his behaviour…

The game itself was interesting enough, hilarious VAR decision aside I thought Liverpool parked the bus pretty well - low block and counter attack has always been the way to beat City and Klopp setup well for that.

Still can’t see past City walking the league but at least it makes it interesting for a bit longer!

We're all blinkered when it comes to our own team; I recall you calling Leicester a bunch of cheats in the same game one of your players broke one of our player's legs with a disgraceful tackle for which he didn't get sent off for.  Mentioning that doesn't disprove you either but just shows we can all point to countless examples that we are hard done/others get the better rub of the green.

Liverpool are as hard done by the ref as any other team; as an aside I think they're one of only 5 teams to have benefited from VAR this year is far - next year the opposite may be true. I'm the same as any other fan in saying some dunderheaded stuff at times when passion and anger are at the forefront. It's an ongoing rite of passage.

City and Rodri seemed to get more of the decisions today; that's often the case though unfortunately. They've mastered the art of the snide tactical foul to the detriment of every other team.

Do you genuinely think Liverpool parked the bus with a low block? I'll have to watch it again to make my mind up but the game was pretty even throughout in possession, which isn't what usually happens when teams park the bus.

Neither team really committed to a full press at any time because of the wariness of what the opposition could do. Liverpool were a 4231 when City had the ball from Ederson in their own half and that quickly became a 442 with Elliott and Jota working back to support the full backs.

It was a game without any real stand out quality from either team.

I think people think of Burnley when they hear low block….

Liverpool played the same low block Spurs do against Man City (and often under Conte)  I’ve not seen your midfield as close to the defence in years (TAA was given his own bodyguard) and there was no high press - lesson learnt from the Arsenal game as you’ve been exposed all season in the gaps between midfield and defence. Liverpool gave up possession and counter attacked is generous, the goal was from a hoof and a mistake.

If Burnley had 30ish % of the ball and played two banks of defence with no high press its parking the bus with low block to frustrate…. Im not even being that critical, Klopp knows his team can’t go toe to toe anymore and you dont have a frightening attack protecting the midfield so it was the sensible plan - had they played the same formation as against Man U and Arsenal then City would have taken Liverpool apart.

Alexander Arnold didn't play, he came on as sub at the end of the match. Did you watch the game?

Liverpool's system for as long as I can remember had one of the midfield three, normally Henderson, covering the right back because that gave the player freedom you get forward, Alexander Arnold always had a bodyguard.

Yesterday was different, since Klopp changed to a 442 or whatever you want to call it, the wingers have been getting back to help and yesterday that was Elliott on the right.

Parking the bus is not the same as the low block that Conte utilises.

Was Liverpool's system really that different against Arsenal? I don't really think it was. The personnel were different and the only real difference was the full backs weren't as adventurous against City.
