I've had enough of Bruno Lage now - our squad is so much better than the results we've seen not just this season but the final 1/3 of last season too.

I don't think he's got anywhere near the tactical nous you need in this league, we rarely look like scoring and his substitutions are almost always poor. And we're not particularly good to watch either.

Our owners look like they've started to splash the cash in the transfer market after a quiet few years - we've spent a lot this summer with some exciting players arriving - I don't think they'll tolerate much more mediocrity. The talent we have deserves better coaching.

I don't think you've seen the real Bruno Lage yet, oddly.  His Benfica team were very attacking, weren't they?  I think I'm remembering that right, but I'm trying to remember second-hand knowledge and I might be wide of the mark.  I think it's impressive that he kept you mid-table or in the top half despite not really scoring many goals.  I think he's got something about him.  You are in a better position to judge than I am, of course.

Ouch, that will knock a few mil of his price!

Nah, the goal he scored tonight will keep him desirable.

Would be a big loss IF he goes,  but goes for nothing in the summer (and can't see him playing his socks off post January with no contract protecting him from an injury).

The Bruno Lage Benfica team undoubtedly were exciting to watch.  It helped that they had Joao Felix of course, but credit where it's due - they destroyed most teams.  But there is a world of difference between Benfica in the Portuguese league and Wolves in the Premier League.  In short, I don't think he's a very good coach at all.

We've had a full season of him - I just don't think he's got very much tactical nous at all.  As for attacking - we're so toothless.  It's not that we create loads but miss chances we should be converting - we don't create anywhere near enough.  It's rare for us to score twice in a game, we only scored 3+ in 3 games last season (one of which was a 4-0 win over a hopeless Watford team).

We've not won since we beat Villa on April 2nd - that was 11 league matches ago, and we've lost 7 of those games.

If we go a goal down, Lage is totally unable to change things around - we're incredibly predictable to play against, very easy to defend against.  On the rare occasions we go a goal UP, sometimes there's some promise.  Ball retention is a bit better, we did play a perfect game at Old Trafford last season.  But aside from a couple of promising performances, the norm is for us to concede possession cheaply, be static up front, totally devoid of any secondary tactic, be neither proactive nor reactive - it's just shit to watch and completely uninspiring.

For some reason, after a few seasons of frugality, the owners have started to spend again which is great - but there's no point buying a Ferrari if you don't have a drivers license.  With a superb midfield trio of Neves-Moutinho-Nunes, with talent like Neto and Guedes with Raul up top (and we're signing another striker - Sasa Kaladjzic today), we should be exciting to watch, full of chances and goals.  We are none of these things - the same issues we had at the end of last season still plague us.

I don't think the owners will put up with many more poor performances and results.  If we can get Sasa over the line - and apparently we're in for a couple more players before the window shuts, which would make it a superb window for the club - they're showing some ambition in the market.  So they're spending money, they will want return on investment.  They've shown ruthlessness before - personally I'd bin him immediately.

Does he have a Portuguese nan?

Apparently this is a non-Portuguese transfer with no Jorge Mendes links!

I can't wait to see 6'7" Kalajdzic line up alongside 5'4" Daniel Podence.  The latter will look like a mascot.

Is there anybody in the country on a bad run who didn't at least beat Villa?    Scott Parker's Bournemouth beat us,  West Ham who hadn't even scored a goal so far this season beat us.  Wolves have been rotten for ages but still managed to beat us.    Next up Arsenal and Manchester City.

It's actually quite impressive how Gerrard has managed to sour the mood at Villa Park so spectacularly.  It's that feeling you get when you see a bus or a train you should have been on disappear round the corner and you know that you'll be standing in the rain for ages because you fucked up.  It feels like we had our shot, filled the squad full of old men who haven't made the team better, created a "bomb squad" for no discernible reason and it appears a lot of the players think Gerrard it a twat.  There'll probably be a good book about it in ten years but it's a pain in the arse right now.

I would have liked Gerrard at Molineux before Lage was appointed but I'm surprised how quickly it seems to have turned to shit for him.

I remember the 2-1 victory well - Villa were absolutely hopeless, particularly in the 1st half.

Can't see a 'glorious Anfield return' for SG once Klopp leaves.....!

Gerrard has been a spectacular disaster.

A shame it was so predictable.

It's not even that the squad is bad or his signings are poor. He just makes everything he touches worse. And now we've been melded into his vision of a successful squad it's riddled with holes - we're stupidly short at CB and we play 3 CMs with only about 4 in the squad he will use. And they need upgrades.

Complete shambles.

Ljinders takes over from Klopp anyway. Already has a plan for a 42 year old James Milner as his number two.

Milner eventually becomes the new Ronnie Moran

Gerrard turns into the new Sourness (that typo was on purpose for once)
