That's what they were saying on Sky in the post match analysis. I doubt he would have got away with it anyway but to do it when you have just called the refs attention is a bit crazy.

Anderson posted some of the hate-filled bile he got sent through social media after having the temerity to put his face in the way of a headbutt. Every club has keyboard warriors, but it's so pathetic that people get so wound up by the game. And can send such messages without real fear of reprisal.

 

It's small wonder that most footballers even bother with social media, but good on him for screenshotting some of the messages.

Manchester United are arguably an upper mid table team at this point.  They've failed to qualify for the Champions League in five of the past nine seasons, it's already looking like this will be six in ten.

If I was a Forest fan the signings would be exciting but getting them to play together effectively will take time which they may not have. How can they afford to spend £44.5 m on Morgan Gibbs White alongside all the other signings? It feels like a huge gamble

In general, I do wonder what the traditional big six recruitment process is. They seem keen on waiting how a player plays at another PL club then swooping in with a silly money deal.

 

In the case of Marc Cucurella, surely Chelsea could have spent £15m on him last season rather than waiting for us to do it then paying four times that amount 12 months later. Even if he had been a flop, surely it would have been more financially prudent to take a punt at £15m rather than do it the way they've done it? Similarly, Liverpool could have had Nunez for around £20m when he went to Benfica but once again ended up paying four times that.

 

I realise there's an element of milking big sides for cash so maybe it wouldn't have been so cheap for them and maybe they're more risk averse or possibly it is a timing thing with people leaving the squad but I would have thought they should be scouting better to spend their money more effectively rather than paying these absurd sums and not getting done for FFP for some reason.

I think these days it's more about the "profile" than anything else. Clubs will bring in plenty of youngsters for the academy and under 21s as well as the first team squad but it seems that they tend to look for specific metrics and personality traits, as well as how they fit into the squad.

 

Liverpool could sign someone like Nunez direct from Almeria for £15m, sure, but you're not just putting that pressure on them at a younger age but missing out on the years they spend honing their talents at those clubs.

 

There's a reason why a lot of young players don't make it at big clubs first before taking a step down and having another go later. It's as simple as opportunities coming too soon or the circumstances not being right.

 

Think of Salah, de Bruyne or back a few more years to the likes of van der Sar and Henry. They went on to be stars after big(ish) moves didn't pan out the way they hoped.

 

There's certainly an element of risk aversion but then City and Liverpool also bring in players like Alvarez, Carvalho and Elliott who are younger/less experienced but fit what they're looking for.

 

Tl;dr a combination of opportunity and squad composition for some clubs

That didn’t sound right and upon checking it isn’t. ‘Yes’ are when Utd played in the Champions League

Does anyone actually like football on a Monday night?  Just thinking about how much Monday games feel like they are separate from the rest of the games.  Surely no one actually likes going to a game on a Monday either?!

Monday night games are shite. Would prefer a Friday night game to kick-off the weekend rather than having to wait all weekend for what is usually a pretty tepid game.

I enjoy watching Friday to Monday where possible. Nice to have football to look forward on a Monday, knowing you're back to work after the weekend.
