I think it’s a mistake to sack Viera at this stage unless they have Jesse Marsch or someone lined up already. Palace are a more attractive proposition than some of the teams further down the table I guess but I’m not sure what miracle is expected of an incoming manager other than 17th or better. Maybe that’s enough? I don’t think they would have gone down had they stuck with him to the end of the season

The weird way this works is that the semi finals have been decided now as well, so the first semi will be between the winners of the Real Madrid v Chelsea tie and the winners of the Man City v Bayern tie.  What this does is really open up a route to the final for Napoli.

This lazy way of drawing future potential fixtures is so shit.  Takes the fun away from it.

Napoli have a bloody good chance now when they face Bayern in the final.

Means Man City have to get through Bayern and most likely Real just to even make the final though. Which has probably pissed off their fans and Pep Guardiola.

Send for Roy.

They're actually doing it, fucking hell.

The guy absolutely phoned it in for Watford, totally couldn't be arsed. Maybe it was an 'Agent Roy return to base' thing after his past run-ins with Harry The Hornet but it really left a sour taste. I think Palace may end up regretting this one, he's retired more times than Conor McGregor.

Palace have completely shit the bed here. Hodgson?!

Their run-in consisted of loads of games against teams below them, and they haven’t been conceding loads of goals. They’d have been fine.

Fucking hell. There was a game last season, - possibly Watford’s last home game - where he genuinely looked like someone has taken their grandmother out of the dementia care home to get some fresh air.

This is the view of someone looking at league positions and not watching the games, we've been absolutely shite, United, Liverpool, City and Newcastle all came to Selhurst and were poor (relatively) and were there for the taking.

1 win in 15

5 games without a goal

21 goals in 27 games

Playing the bottom 6 with games running out/teams scrapping for survival isn't the same as playing those same teams earlier in the season, get a goal against Palace and you're getting at least a point.

I'm not saying I want Hodgson or he's the answer mind, just that sacking Viera wasn't a 'shitting the bed' move.

Not claiming to know best here obviously, but it seems like there’s some context to this run - you haven’t played a side below you in the table all year, and you’ve had lots of draws and narrow defeats in that time. The squad clearly lacks quality up front.

I’m not saying Vieira was necessarily the right man long-term, but I think sacking him now off the back of this run for Hodgson is an absolute textbook panic move.

Completely agree on the Hodgson front, the concept of bringing him him in to fix a team lacking in creativity in attack and goals may be the worst idea that anyone has had in football this year.

Hodgson is well regarded by the Palace fans (he is one, and grew up on the terrraces at Selhurst after all), but no-one thought him going was the wrong idea, he stabalised the club and once that was done had zero idea of how to move the club forward, the memory of the horrific boredom of watching us limp to safety his last year still haunts me.

None of the fan base wants him back, everyone thinks Parish is an idiot if he does it, no doubt we'll give him a warm welcome and support (if it happens) but it'll be through gritted teeth (and eveyopne will know it's all on Parish).

If Burnley weren’t already promoted ( I know but they could lose every game and go up in reality) you would be worried about the effect of this mauling, just think this Man City side were humbled by Spurs recently and can’t even win the league in a one horse race :o

Villa finally weren't 11th for about 40 minutes today. Which is nice.

It shows how fucking dire things were when the fraud left us. The form under Emery is superb. Even with a 3 game wobble. We're a different team.
