I’m playing currently dipping in and out of it on PlayStation (PS4 version on PS5 🙄) and I wish to fuck I was playing it on Switch instead

This is exactly how I’ll feel I’m sure. I’m just gonna do it.

I’ve pre-ordered the physical from Base.com for £41.85: https://www.base.com/buy/product/persona-5-royal-nintendo-switch/dgc-person5rns.htm

Happy to just leave the cart in my Switch, and it’ll probably sell for 95% of its value if I ever sell it on.

Someone on Reddit received their Switch version early and said it runs at a smooth 30fps but a fairly low 540p-ish resolution, and the audio is pretty compressed. Thing is though, JRPGs are handheld games for me so they’re compromises I’m ok with.

I made the mistake of playing Dragon Quest XI on my Xbox and it just wasn’t a good experience at all. JRPGs all need to be handheld so you can chip away at a moments notice and grind while you’ve got the tv on.

Don't think I'll be going for P5R again as I have it on PS5 (PS4 version) with all the DLC. Not seen any comparison of the new version but can't see it would be worth £50

But pumped for 3 and 4 coming so early in 2023. Have them on y Vita but playing them on the TV will be aces

Yeah, totally this. I did play through a good chunk of Persona 5 via remote play with my iPhone and a Kishi, and it was really good tbf, but I liked to look stuff up on my phone (enemy weaknesses mainly), which became a pain. Switch + phone will be perfect.

Persona is just my ideal ‘play in bed’ game, and I played the majority of P3, P4 and P5 sat in bed at night. So happy they’re all getting re-released on modern platforms, and not forgotten about!

surprised no one beat me to posting this groundbreaking news:

I know the folks at Pandasaurus, and they've asked me to test out the game when it's finished. Still in development at the moment, but Emerson is a great designer and I have faith he'll do some Good Stuff.

I'm sure it'll be fine, it's just unlucky that it came when Atlus lead everyone to believe they'd be announcing Persona 6.

A Google-Translated bit of info from Persona Channel. Notably, you don't have to go to the Philemon butterfly to save. Although I wonder if that's a temporary save that deletes itself when you load it?

The latest information on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows versions of "Persona 3 Portable" and "Persona 4 The Golden" has been released!

Hello, this is Persona Public Relations.
We will deliver the latest information on the Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Windows versions of "Persona 3 Portable" and "Persona 4 Golden" scheduled to be released on January 19, 2023. With the remaster, it's even easier to play than the original version of "Persona 3 Portable" and "Persona 4 The Golden"!

High definition and smooth graphics
Reborn from the original version with high-resolution graphics, you can enjoy the game with vivid, high-definition rendering and smooth operation.

It's okay if you're new to the "Persona" series! Difficulty selection is possible from the first round!

The difficulty selection that could be selected from the second week after clearing can now be selected from the beginning of the game.

Since the game development does not change depending on the difficulty level, SAFETY and EASY are recommended for beginners and those who want to enjoy a crisp story.

Interrupted save implementation!
You can now interrupt saves at any time during play, not just at save points!

"Persona 4 The Golden" has an album function that allows you to look back on the community!
In "Persona 4 The Golden", a function will be added that allows you to look back on memorable scenes from the album in your room. You can also try different options that you didn't choose when you played

Also, the games will be priced at ¥1980 (~£12)

That said, they do seem to mention Xbox and Windows specifically in the above tweet, so there may be a Switch/Sony tax or something.

Apparently Atlus are acting like reasonable humans for their streaming guidelines this time... to an extent. No specific restrictions have been specified but they prefer players to apply spoiler warnings as an act of courtesy. There are also notes about making revenue from videos (use a partnership program), putting content behind your own paywall (don't do it) and creating BGM videos or videos that showcase cheats or mods (don't do it)

Although how that will work when people were sharing BGM back in the PS2 era is anyone's guess...

Seems reasonable, as though they are very old games, a lot of people will be new to them so a request for spoiler warnings is warranted without outright blocking story content.

3P and 4G are out this week. A reminder that we have dedicated threads for each of them when you want to discuss game stuff. I feel like it would get a bit messy if discussion of two games took place in here. But then again console megathreads discuss hundreds of games in one topic :hat:

The PC version of P4G has been out for a while, is the new version just a console version of that? Or will PC get another one?

Same one, no new version for PC

  • Qazimod changed the title to Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, Persona 3 Portable coming to everything | NEW PLAYERS, THE GAMES HAVE THEIR OWN THREADS YOU CAN USE - SEE FIRST POST

You won't have to buy it again, but I think the QoL bits mentioned upthread are new to Golden (quicksaves and the "album"/scene viewer thing), so maybe there will be a title update of sorts for existing owners?

Really looking forward to having these on the Switch. The Vita is great, but the bigger screen and being able to play them on the TV will be nice.

Just getting tired of the whining about them not porting P3 FES across the internet. Would have involved a ton more work. Portable is a great version, the controlling your party actions and the female protag (which changes a ton of the social stuff) make it a better experience. Yes, it's missing The Answer, but I've still not finished that, and I hear it isn't that great anyway, and the exploration stuff is all by menu, but it speeds things up too

Pretty telling to me that when they made the movies of P3 (which are amazing by the way) The Answer didn't get addressed in there. It's a nice extra maybe, the game stands on its own as a complete entity without it as far as I am concerned.

The Steam boards for P3P are a riot. You can log on each day and find a topic on the first page about why FES is better, or Portable is inferior, or whatever. Right now I'm at the point of "yes the fully 3D fanciness of FES would be nice but I don't care that much." I can concede that Portable might be pretty weird for someone's first experience of P3, but the "visual novel" presentation is fine for a game where you're spending all of the daytime running between shops and dialogue dispensers anyway. They might as well be selectable options for a cursor. :P

Of course I do still have the physical games on my shelf, so admittedly my need for FES isn't as great. ;) And I never bothered with much of The Answer; I have a PCSX2 folder somewhere - and a vague plan to just turbo-mode through the tedium - but I've got to be really bored to want to try it, and I'm not there yet.

If someone's first experience of Persona 3 doesn't involve them getting catastrophically battered after delving deep into tartarus because Yukari Absolutely Refuses To Heal The MC, then have they really experienced Persona 3 at all?
