If you want added fun - go for the achievements.  The fire station without using the scaffolding was interesting.  "That looks okay - I can get up there with a ladder" <goes around corner and see tower>. "Yoiks!"

This is pretty much my only complaint about the game - I wish these had been implemented as in-game objectives, as well as achievements. I've been spoiled on the names of various upcoming levels because I've had to bring up the achievement list to look up the additional challenges.

In the office today so couldn't Power Wash on my lunchbreak. Didn't mean I didn't spot a few buildings in W1 that looked like they could do with a date with a UXU2.

Give it three months before a hipster pressure washing club opens in Shoreditch where people pay to wash their own dirty stuff soundtracked by music from a tinny speaker rigged up to Zune.

Speaking as someone who has played crazy golf in a brick lane basement AND been to art exhibitions in several building site locations I would unsurprisingly be very much up for that! 😂

Nooooooooooooooooooo - just did the washrooms and didn't get achievement

Spoiler

Left all the toilet parts including cisterns to last - I was really really careful.

But I missed one skylight and didn't notice until I'd cleaned all the cisterns, pipes and toilet lids.

It needs toilet lids, seats and toilets not just toilets  - sob.

Yeah that would have been good.

I generally don't really look at achievements and as a result I had just completed one of these 'by chance' during my playthrough.  Have since been looking to do some more and suspect they might be a little buggy as I could swear i've completed a couple and they have not popped.  I did however get a gold on one of the timed challenges during lunch today!. 😂

Exact same thing happened to me on that stage!

Since then I have been really careful with them which I why I think they might be a bit flakey

Spoiler

Tried to do the firehouse without stepping on the scaffold one and it didnt pop even though I was careful to not even get close to the scaffold

Been getting the achievements on each level and the Temple one didn't trigger even though the gnome never left the roof.

Quite annoying as you need to do it all again 100% and that level is deceptively tougher that it first seems.

Going back to achievements not popping I just did the ball in skatepark one which should be a very simple task with no chance of accidentally messing up and it did not trigger.  Closed and restarted the game, tried again and it popped straight away.  In a nutshell it seems like the game can get in a state where achievements are not triggering and it needs a restart.

This game is…excellent.

I assumed it was going to be a short-loved joke, but the depth of gameplay and competitive time challenge is really well thought out.

It’s like Shenmue with all the boring bits cut out, or the game Hideo Kojima always wanted to make.

Little tip I found today... You can select things that you've not finished cleaning yet in the item list of a level to have it flash in the world. Makes it easier to find something if the name doesn't make it entirely clear.

I'm enjoying this a lot. And hate myself for it.

I think it's much much better on PC with M&K vs the controller. Combined with aim mode it's so much easier to plough through and clean large areas.

I thought this initially but I've got quite used to the controller now. Nothing requires too much precision so you don't really miss that fine control too much, and it's a great "slumped on the sofa" game.

My only problem with the controller is that scrolling up and down the menus is insanely sensitive. I genuinely didn't realise for ages that I was scrolling straight past a row of nozzles etc on the equipment screen, and getting it to stop on that row so I could actually buy stuff I needed was almost impossible.

The slumped on the sofa element is very true. In reality I switch between the two. Xbox in the evening. PC just before work in the morning.

The accuracy thing is interesting. I've found after the first few levels that the amount to clear a surface seems to get a bit more lenient sometimes. Sometimes I'll have a reasonably large bit of dirt to go on a wall and it'll suddenly flash and clear. I feel a bit cheated. Particularly after feeling it was very mean on the skate park floor and wanted every little speck cleared.

There is a setting for controller menu sensitivity. That might help.

It seems to have a threshold of about 98-99% clear, which means very large surfaces often clear when you've got visible patches remaining, whereas small parts are insanely fiddly. The vehicles are often much harder than the larger levels, because there are so many little engine parts, headlights etc all of which need every last pixel to be cleaned.

That said, I did have a bit of a nightmare cleaning the roof on the forest cottage, as it was orange, and the function to highlight missed spots in orange was therefore useless. I just sprayed water around randomly until the last bit dinged.

The sensitivity in the shop and the overview of parts on the levels is insane and makes both almost unusable on Xbox.  So bad that is almost like they never even tested it once!

Strangely the sensitivity is fine in the freeplay locations and vehicles select menu

There is a controller cursor menu setting is that the one you meant @thesnwmn as it did not change the scroll speed at all for me.

The best workaround I found is that in both places there is an orange scroll bar on the far right and it you highlight and select that with the cursor, you can then scroll the list at your own pace using the stick.  Wish I had spotted that sooner as it would have avoided much frustration.

I think some of this is that the UI was clearly designed for PC rather than Console, see also Cyberpunk's UI!

It definitely varies, large surfaces do often clear when there are still clearly visible patches of dirt but not always.  Have come across a few stages where there are very large floor or ceiling areas that need to be ridiculously spotless before they will complete, just wait 'til you are trying to clean "atrium floor" 😡

And like you say there are a few issues with the highlight colours not having any 'contrast' with the surrounding area too making them occasionally useless.  This is true for the flashing white highlighting as well as the orange dirt highlight

Thanks @tobert, set-up on XCloud now. Couldn't actually play in the office due to work getting in the way (selfish!) but signed in and ready for next time. Will also add to my iPad later, which should be less fiddly than on my phone.

Played this co-op with a friend last night and was teaching him the tips that I've mostly got from in here. I realised there's one that I've learned that I don't think has been mentioned here:

If you're needing to clear a large area (fence, floor etc.) stand at the edge of it, or lay down low, set the spray angle so it's perpendicular to the surface and spray 'along' it. If that makes sense? The water doesn't fall off in power very quickly, so you can use a small spray and clear a lot of area in a very short time.

I found the treehouse to be not too bad.

I'm at the Ferris wheel now. Just looking at it and I'm like "oh no, maybe I should phone in sick"

I was enjoying my time with this but it froze on me last night and now it won't load. I'm playing through Gamepass on my laptop and haven't been able to fix it. It may be the save has corrupted but I can't find a way to stop it loading the cloud save to check. Just have to wait until I can set up the Xbox One again I guess and try through that.

Quite enjoyed the treehouse I did.

Mayor's mansion caused me panic the other night cos I only had the platform left to clean and it was stuck at 55% and I couldn't get it any higher no matter where I sprayed where it was flashing.

Thought the game was bugged. And I had no other jobs to do as they were all cleared.

Turns out the platform was also the top part of the steps and Id missed some eggs.

Had a totally odd bug. Was 78% through the playground then went to do the moon lander. Came back to the playground and it said 0 percent (even though the benches, bins and roundabout were done). Anyway got it back up to 50% and saved it. Just loaded it up tonight and it's back to 78%.

The undersides and parts of the railings are a bit of a pita!

Having to keep on moving the scaffold gets pretty tedious

Anyway, last night I got to 39/40 achievements.  No way am I going to be able to get the last one, 5x gold on challenges, not least as it didn't register my first one and I had to get a second before the 1x gold chievo popped.  Am now on lawn mowing simulator, did my first 2 contracts this morning before work 😀

There is a bug on Xbox One version for the challenges which I exploited to get them.  Start time challenge - clean away and then go into table and save near the time limit for a gold medal. Back out so you go back to the screen with all the challenges - click resume on the challenge you are doing and the clock starts from zero, but the progress doesn't reset.

Ah, if that works on the SeriesX too I'll give it a go.  Dont feel bad about cheating either as it has already conned me out of a gold earlier😆

Had a splendid Sunday. Did an hour of actual work, then settled in for a good few hours of power washing. After which I mowed our lawn, and trimmed some hedges.

Then I did more power washing. Fire station at 91% without touching the scaffold yet. The tower is a ballache, although you can stand on the top railings, and very slowly creep towards the edge. Can clean the sides below from this angle, and just leaves the annoying undersides of the upper edges. I’ve not finished those yet, but as others, using the small steps and jumping like a madman with the X2’s long attachment and red, swirly nozzle pointed skyward.
