There was stuff in that that should have been in the main showcase.

Especially the part about the stalker Devs and the war. That should have ended the main conference. 😥

That stalker video is something else.

Deserves its own thread. Good on MS for showing it. Although should have ended the main show.

I don't think you could have ended the main show on that. You end events on that.

I'm watching the audio description video linked above, and the Stalker 2 section is absolutely surreal. The narrating voice is nonchalant and upbeat as hell when talking about Kyiv being bombed.

Valheim coming to Xbox console in early 2023.

That's kinda a big deal. Heard amazing things about that game.

It’s fantastic. Could be a bit fiddly on a pad mind.

No seamless flying is disappointing, especially when they’ve said you can go anywhere on a planet - sounds pretty immersion breaking to me.

That's great but I'm way more interested in when a new Fallout spinoff - New Vegas 2 or otherwise - from Obsidian could potentially come out :)

In all seriousness with main Bethesda pumping out one game every 6 to 8 years, surely on that basis alone there's an argument to be made to let other studios play around with their properties? Fill the 8 year gap between new Bethesda games that way. Way before they hit it big with Oblivion, Bethesda themselves also pumped out ES spinoffs between mainline games. Games with the same setting but with a different flavour (never came out on anything else than PC btw)

Was anything mentioned about the Perfect Dark sequal or is that another disapointing omission. The Initiative still seem to have pictures of it on their website, but no updates?

I think everything that’s been mentioned or discussed so far are games that are going to be out in the next 12 months, hence the omission of quite a few games that we already know are in development.

This show was only* about games coming out in the next 12 months - which in itself is a good thing IF they stick to this approach going forward. So no updates on anything further out than June 2023.

*Except for the announcement that Kojima is making an Xbox exclusive game which for some mysterious reason raised GENUINE CONCERNS among Sony fans because that's not what was promised, see how bad they are over at Xbox?

Fallout 5 coming out in 2032.

TES6 was announced four years ago and it's still in pre-production. I really hope these four years of pre-production means they've been working on a new engine

EDIT: Just looked it up an to no surprise it seems TES6 will use the GameCreation engine which has been updated for Starfield. According to Wikipedia, the Gamecreation 2 will also be used for Fallout 5. I know engines are complicated and expensive to develop but the Gamecreation engine is based on Gamebryo which was based on NetImmerse. NetImmerse was developed in the 90s and was used for a game as early as 2001. No wonder Bethesda games are a buggy mess.

Meanwhile CD Projekt RED switched to Unreal 5 for their next Witcher game despite using their own custom engine for over a decade. This is Bethesda being Nintendo-level stubborn. Difference isyou can't argue with the quality of Nintendo's output.

Game engines are a weird beast and often modern engines are based on old engines but in truth only vestiges of the original remain.

Call of Duty Infinity Ward Engine is famously the Quake (or Quake 3) Engine underneath the bonnet, another 20+ yr old engine. But in reality I am not sure how much of Quake is still in there.

what does Wikipedia know about fallout 5?! A game that isn’t even in preproduction or coming out this decade?

Wiki knows fuck all and someone is just assuming they'll use the same engine for Fallout 5 unless an actual insider has updated the wiki but I doubt that's the case.
