There’s simply no way that this is a remake of the entire game. I shall be completely shocked if it is the actual case.

We’ve already seen most of the main areas in trailers, so there can’t really be any major cuts like RE3 had with the clock tower. I’m guessing they might cut some rooms and add some other stuff in, but it certainly looks like we’ve already seen most of the game.

Son of a bitch, I'm in. Pre-ordered.

I had a Peter Kay induced ear-worm develop in my head 17-odd years ago when the original came out on PS2. I inflict it on you thus.

Quote

When the day is dawning
On a Spanish castle morning
How I long to be there
With Ashley waiting for me there

Even hungry plagas (la-la-la-la-la)
I won't run from that (la-la-la-la-la)
Not half as tricky
As where my baby's at

Is this the way to agarillo?
Every night I've been running like billy-o
Screaming screams of agarillo,
A chainsaw man is chasing me

As an aside, i'm loving this key art for the new trailer. Few games do Shotgun porn as well as the original RE4 does !  Rounding up a bunch of enemies and going centre mass, the blowback throwing them of a cliff ledge...just as tasty as nailing the perfect headshot. so satisfying !

Game likely to be goty 2005 and 2023 and I am here for it

I only hope that the gunplay feels more impactful in-game than it looks in the trailer. It looks like it has the less punchy shots from Remake 2 and 3 as opposed to the ones in 4 and 5. 45 seconds in you can barely even see the point of impact.

Parrying's cool though. I'm interested in that. And hopefully there's no added sections where Ashley has to sneak around for a billion hours.

I think the gunplay looks great. We have only seen a few weapons, and a couple of them look and sound like an upgrade over the base pistol which is what has mostly been shown.

As for the sneaking section, if it is tense and scary I am all for it, but I understand the apprehension if it is like the original.

Yeah.. I think the gore's been toned down for the trailer, when Leon suplexes the monk the head doesn't explode like in the og game either. There's a bit at 1:10 where he snipes a monk and it looks like a head pop, but can't quite see as its long range.

The qte Krauser fight being turned into a playable knife parry fest looks real slick though. Love that double leg takedown he does. I don't remember Luis being in a lot of those sections either so it looks like he's got a bigger role this time around as well.

And Mercenaries too oh boy, if that has online leaderboards I'll be feasting on that forever.

So long as it's an action packed rollercoaster like the original I'll be happy. I've got relatively minor concerns about some of what I've seen, but I'd be more than happy to have them be unfounded.

Heads must burst, Leon must suplex and puns must flow.

That looks stupendously good.

One thing, though:

Spoiler

That’s Luis in the mine cart with Leon. This means either they moved that set piece to the first half of the game, or Luis doesn’t get killed in the castle anymore and has a bigger part to play in the narrative this time around. I’m thinking the latter.

Yeah I think so too. It looks like

Spoiler

He’ll be taking the place of Ashley in a bunch of areas. And maybe Ashley is a baddie for a while as we saw in the trailer?

I'm guessing the PC version will be a great, safe buy. The previous remakes ran pretty amazingly and it's R.E Engine so I assume none of that stutter nonsense.

YES

DO IT! I DID

It looks goofy as fuck and worse than the original. No atmosphere whatsoever.

Because the original game, with its evil children, mech statues and stuff was never goofy.

If Village can do the whole lot in VR there’s no reason why this wouldn’t be able to? Reckon?

But yeah, that looked absolutely tremendous.

The whole thing is doable in VR, which is, by the sound of their recent update tweet, what they're doing now. They're using the the term 'mode' (as opposed to content, etc) which is what they used when they put 7 and 8 into VR. Granted 7 and 8 were in first person, but they have shown that they have the ability to do either by putting a third person mode into Village. As for how it works for RE4 as a game overall - Armature have already done it brilliantly on Quest 2. It'll take a while but I'd bet a bollock on it being the whole thing now.

It’s not a new game. Bar a few tweaks, it’ll pretty much be the original you know and love, in a shiny current gen coat.
