Am I missing something or can you not kick open doors now?

Demo looks lovely but I'm not keen about there being any changes to the mechanics, which were tuned very precisely.

Not keen on changes to the mechanics? This isn't the game for you then, there are tons of changes!

Yeah it’s a top to bottom remake not just a graphical improvement (like Demon’s Souls for example), it was always going to have mechanics changes.

The door kick is something I missed too tbh, considering how many enemies there are it seems even more likely to be useful in this than the original

Maybe it's in there, couldn't find it

If your on series x are you meant to play on high Res or performance? I never know.

Performance all the way. If you have a TV that supports VRR, stick Ray Tracing on too.

No HDR on PC? Do you mean because of your monitor/setup? And some said bad HDR earlier in the thread? Wut?

PSA: The HDR is pretty damn good in this (on PC for me!), esp compared to 2 with the raised blacks

Aye due to my Samsung G5 having pointless HDR400. And generally being a rather shit monitor overall (major ghosting with VRR etc).

I tried high res in case it was one of those 'plays at 60 even though there's a performance mode' moments, but I was feeling frame drops. So performance it is.

I played on resolution with ray tracing and it was excellent. Luckily I’m not susceptible to the difference between 30/60 frame rates.

I always wonder how anyone who can't handle 30fps these days managed to game through earlier generations. I can obviously see the difference, but it's just not something I find affects me in any meaningful way, so I generally go for the fancier graphics modes. Each to their own and all that though.

It is one of those extremely awesome demos like Dead Rising , Arkham Asylum etc that offer a relatively small play area but jam packed with mechanics you really want to experiment with. Just glad they removed the time limit bs like they did with the other demos

I always remember going back and forth between Modern Warfare and Halo 3 and finding the frame rate differences very jarring. Halo 3 felt like wading through treacle. I’d always be ok with it after a few mins, though, and low frame rates were the norm.  Nowadays they’re the exception and just too noticeable for me. I guess ignorance is bliss for some.

This one is time limited by the inevitable ringing of the bell is it not? If it's like the OG I think that happened by either numbers of enemy killed or time spent. So both whichever came first.

You could of course just stay out of the village forever (in the demo). :)

The previous recent Resi demos you could only play for an arbitrary amount of time and then never again on that account. That sort of time limit. Whereas with this demo you can play it again and again and again and again. And again and again and again.

I hammered through the demo on PC but I know I'll probably go the PS5 + telly option in the end :)

Probably by not having the superior option available at the time and therefore having no frame of reference. Now that we do, going back sucks.

Ah, OK - hadn't realised that.
