When you click the donate button, you will then get a further choice of two donate buttons - the top one is The Refugee Council, the bottom one is The Trussell Trust. Just Giving won't allow me to edit the two links so they look the same. You can choose which charity to donate to; however, it only allows you to donate to one charity at a time. You could do two separate donations (i.e £5 to each) if you want. If you have no preference, please donate to the charity that has received the lower amount. Sorry for the hassle, but Just Giving makes it overly complicated to donate to multiple charities. 

 

Essential - When you donate, please make sure you include your forum name.

Donations will close on Tuesday 17th May. On Friday 20th May we will then give away some forum-created goodies (as seen below) to some of the contributors.

 

 

What's going on:

The world is a bit of a worrying place at the moment and it can fill us all with existential dread. However, in recent years we've seen how this forum can come together and support others, in the hardest of times. This altruism and kindness is part of what make the volunteers want to run this place and hopefully makes the community feel like it's an empathetic and supportive collective. Regularly asking members to donate to another fundraiser threatens to impact on the generosity and goodwill on community. So we had an idea. 

 

Some of you may be aware that our esteemed forumite, Ste Pickford, has had some amazing national and international coverage for his Elden Ring journal. He has also received an awful lot of positive feedback on here too.

 

Ste has kindly agreed that he will donate an original Elden Ring image for a forum raffle. This is not one of his journal pieces but an original image he’s done especially for this fundraiser. Where members have previously donated to good causes with the reward being nothing more than the sense of being a lovely human being, this time we wanted to give members the opportunity to have the chance to receive something for their kindness.

 

Without coming over all Marks and Spencers, these aren't just any raffle prizes. A number of other amazingly talented and selfless members have also agreed to offer raffle prizes, including art from emerald fox, moosegrinder, Sidewaysbob, NexivRed and @pagMasterSwift; a Fuzzballs bundle from Ketchup, outstanding photography from PeteJ and Loik V credern and some top-notch pottery from beakbeak.  We've subsequently had iwan_canobioffer a laser-cut Mandalorian framed piece, which has been added to the prizes. I’ll add images of all of these prizes to this thread so you can see just what’s up for grabs.

 

Each raffle ticket will be £10. Members can buy more than one if they would like to. All donations will go towards The Trussell Trust and The Refugee Council. We'll use Just Giving for this. When you make your donation, you'll need to add your forum name to the donation so that we can track entrants.

 

At least 3 members of the Committee and Mod Team will be able to oversee the Just Giving account and we will also post images of the final donations and any charity feedback we receive. 

 

The draw will be live streamed on Friday 20th May. When we draw the names, the first person to be chosen will have first pick of raffle prizes and so on. 

 

This has been in the pipeline for a month or so and I'd like to thank all the contributors for their patience while we tried to iron out any potential issues. 

 

I'll post the Just Giving page in the next couple of days. As this is the first time we've done anything like this, I want to make sure any questions you have are addressed prior to the raffle page opening.
