"Should my husband spend less time playing video games?"

I like the comment by Bea, 18, who rightly asserts that, if he is allowed to get even one more console, what would stop Max buying more later?

Greedy capitalist pigs, the Microsoft, will only go and release a new one later. Before you know it, Poor old Bryony will be up to her neck in a sea of plastic and silicone. This is the thin end of the wedge, and needs snuffing out at the wick - give Max an inch and he’ll take a mile.

Poor Max, he gets a new Xbox every 6 years and is derided for it by Bea, an 18 year old who probably gets a new phone every 2 years.

I'd love Bryony to see my line of 12 Super Famicom's, I think her head might burst.

Why does he need a 360, an Xbox One, and a Series X/S? Surely just buy a new Xbox, sell the Xbox One, and keep the 360 in a cupboard for the occasions when he wants to play Guitar Hero. If he wants a PS5, keep the Xbox One, but put the 360 in a cupboard for now

I had a lot of sympathy for the lady in the original post, but this just seems like a very easily resolved argument. A lot of people don't like having a front room full of plastic electronic boxes with marginally differing functionality - which is fair enough, the guy needs to compromise a bit here - but this is hardly a irresolvable situation.

I think you, and others, have missed the 200IQ play going on here…. Max knows he can’t have three consoles, he also probably knows he can’t really justify getting the new one and as you say we should all compromise we our loved ones where needed…

’Ok honey, ive had a good think and read the comments and there are some good points. How about I trade in the Xbox One and get the Series X so equilibrium is maintained’

His partner has no idea how bad the xbox one is and Max becomes the good guy.

Unless he just loves connect and then of course into the sea for him!

My wife knew how much of a gamer I was when we got together. As long as the mortgage gets paid, the kids are clothed and fed and the other bills are paid, she doesn't care what I spend my money on.

I managed to finish work a little early today so I'd managed to clean the bathroom, sort the laundry, clear the cat litter trays, empty the dishwasher, water the plants. All before I had to pick the eldest up from school. He and I then collected her from work so she wouldn't have to walk home in the crazy heat! Then I went and got the younger two from nursery. This has bought me some gaming time over the weekend.

Also, I got her a subscription to Hayu on Prime Video so she can watch Below Deck so she's happy. 😆

Speaking of talking through movies, my step-mum was the worse,. I probably watched over 100 movies with her growing up as a kid and I would often have a stop watch going off to see how long she could go without talking. The average maximum was about 5 minutes.  No matter how amazing the film was, she just couldn't grasp the idea of multiple people sitting in the same room not talking to each other.
