Sonic Team being lead developer for Sonic, is like the developers of Super Mario Aces being the lead developers of Mario.

Hold on, is that the Switch tennis game? Fancied having a go of that. Is it really terrible or something?

No idea tbh but your post was another excuse to listen to that tune. It’s so, so good. Perfect even. Fits the stage perfectly, evokes coldness and ice somehow, and has a real ‘GET TO THE END OF THE STAGE’ urgency about it.

The new one is utter shite.

Glad that the Sonic CD soundtrack never ends up being removed, despite the samples:

You're right that the samples have never caused any issues that we know of. But one change did have to be made: in the 2011 release, the vocals were removed from the Japanese/European intro and ending.

Original Mega CD version (linking to the Sonic Jam versions because of their better video quality):

The vocal-less 2011 versions:

I couldn’t resist the FOMO, @jcafarley sold it to me on TCGS show… and the DF vid was decent with room to improve… it was basically free as i used xbox reward points!

Initial impressions are that I like the general package, ive only played the first few stages of Sonic 1 in widescreen and tbh I can’t fault it - the intro vids are all well done and it plays as well as Sonic ever has and being native widescreen is a bonus thats almost worth the price IMO.

potential/10 thus far.

I think what I like about the videos is that the content very closely resembles the kind of stuff you used to get in mags. The kinds of tips, cheats and secrets that you had to be told about to know. That’s not really a thing in modern games.

Why do SEGA act like the 8-bit Sonic games don’t exist? Would be awesome to have those remastered

because they weren't developed by Sonic Team/STI. Do Ancient and Aspect even exist any more?

I've just read this.  Am a bit confused, cos the music I remember was none of these versions.  This is the only version of the intro I encountered. where did this come from if those above were the originals?

That soundtrack was used in the North American Sega CD version, and then carried over to the PC port in all regions.
