From the iconic Green Hill Zone to the treacherous Death Egg Robot, you'll speed down memory lane to thwart the sinister plans of Doctor Robotnik in polished high definition! This latest version includes new areas to explore, additional animations, and a brand new Anniversary mode!

Classic Re-Defined
Explore the classic Sonic titles in high-resolution, with all-new opening and ending animations for each title!

New Unlockables
Complete various missions to collect coins to unlock new content, challenges, and Special Stages through the Museum.

Classic and Anniversary Mode

Looks like there's been some effort involved and not just a quick cash grab. Fingers crossed.

It’s appeared. This was actually proposed to SEGA suits by Pixelheart a year or so ago, as a two volume release for the Dreamcast. Talks progressed and Pixelheart were confident in getting the deal before someone in SEGA took their idea and sold it  as their own for current gen consoles to SEGA’s bigwigs.

Shame it’s not appearing on the Dreamcast but might be for the best as I’m sure Pixelheart would have gotten Joshprod onto this who would have just pumped out some half arsed emulated effort.

Hopefully it's something to do with Christian Whitehead again, after his various Sonic ports and his work on Mania.

If they're not and it turns out to be another hacky port job, no harm done - it'll be an excuse to pull out the mega drive collection on Steam again.

New areas... i'm guessing just cut content that has been included in the IOS remasters (like Sonic 2's Hidden palace Zone). If it's in a new engine then fair enough but it's not quite a great deal when Sonic Mega Collection had 12-14 games included.

From what I’ve read the games have been remastered with Christian Whitehead’s retro engine like with the iOS sonic 2 port.

Yeah, this was announced back at the Sonic anniversary thing as being exactly this. It's the same engine used for the most recent version of Sonic CD as well, as well as Mania of course.

I'm looking forward to playing a snazzy version of 3 and Knuckles. :D

What makes me think this isn’t the case is the ‘Explore the classic Sonic titles in high-resolution’ bit, and the reference to playing them in the ‘original resolution’.

Unless high resolution just means ‘the original resolution with a bit on the sides to make it 16:9’.

This is meant to be basically the ios sonic ports, with widescreen and other enhancements, Sonic 3&K *hopefully* following that and a few extras. Basically the Sonic Mega Collection but with a bit more effort than a typical rom dump. Really hoping they go all out with this!

They can't possibly Sonic Cycle this, right?

Right?

It's Sega of course they will, it'll be fantastic right up till launch with everything on point, looking amazing, positive buzz except when it comes out they'll have replaced the sonic jump noise with a fart or something just to totally ruin all the good work.

Why bundle these changes together? I want wide-screen and limited lives. Sonics messed it up already.

Pre-order and receive the Start Dash DLC pack featuring in-game currency 100 Bonus Coins, new Mirror Mode unlocked and customize your playthrough with themed Letterbox Background

What is this?! Also the trailer above confirms no lives in wide-screen. Why?!?!!

Edit: They've stuffed these with some special golden currency haven't they, for the unlockable artwork etc, and it's going to be mega grindy so in-game economy? Why?!?!!

What the fuck is that preorder chart

I'll, uh, wait to hear what those bonus coins actually do before buying. I'm guessing it's fluff for unlockable art (which is why it's in the pre-order DLC), but you really don't need to take chances with Mega Drive ports we've seen umpteen times, Taxman ports included.

If I’m reading that correctly, there’s no one version you can buy that includes everything?

Digital Deluxe gets the free DLC, so that would indicate everything. Just a bad table.
