Exploding Kittens, based on the card game, is getting an animated series and mobile game from Netflix. Starring the voices of Tom Ellis, Abraham Lim, Lucy Liu, Ally Maki, Mark Proksch and Sasheer Zamata. The show will be made by new company, Bandera Entertainment, founded by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels.

Why are they launching a tie-in game for this?!

The game, meanwhile, will launch in May. It will see players draw cards aiming to avoid the Exploding Kitten. Future cards and game mechanics will be themed around the animated series so people can play with their favorite characters. The game will feature both single and multiplayer options.

Unless they're launching a new Exploding Kittens game, it's even more baffling. The game's been out for years.

 

Edit: oh, they're doing an animated series based on the pre existing card game, and then making a mobile game based on the animated series based on the card game?

 

It's not even that well known a licence. Just do something new!
