Is this all this thread is going to be till this comes out now?

What else are you expecting? Post video people comment on if they like it visually, audible, found it hilarious, spotted something different.

To continue the theme... It looks "fine". I liked the outside bit although guybrush moves fast! Too fast. You should be frustratedly waiting for him to get everywhere.

Back of his head looked weird.

I think the only problem I have with it, is that I've lost interest in the point and click genre. I got so excited about the Thimbleweed Park's Kickstarter and I pledged as soon as I could, only to find that it was probably just for the nostalgia trip. It's a good game, and it's charming but I find point and click game mechanics really rather boring these days?

I don't know how you could make Monkey Island in any other form, mind - I know I hankered for a film/tv series for years, but Pirates of the Caribbean scuppered that dream of mine.

But, it looks fine I guess. And it has Murray in it, so that's definitely a positive.

I bloody love point n click games to give the other side of the coin and I wish there were way more of them :D

Very few games do them 'correctly' though, there's a fine art to that kind of game and I also wonder if the ubiquity of the Internet also slightly kills the part of it where you're stuck on a particular puzzle and have a eureka moment later on.

I love a load of conversation options that actually say what I'm going to say though, so many games have fucked me off with that recently and not one game has ever had any kind of "wait a minute no, what I meant to say was..." once you've triggered off an entire rant from selecting one word or an emoji or some crap.

i can't wait. I might have to book some time off work so i can just eat it all up.

Curse of Monkey Island is RIGHT THERE and this is the art style they go with.

Honestly in retrospect I'm starting to appreciate CIM a lot more, which is funny because I remember my friend complaining about the graphics at the time. I had reservations about the characters, but always loved the background art.

Wait, only now after inspecting IMDB do I realise that CIM was written by Ron Gilbert and even had the art of Steve Purcell? I thought the whole reason it wasn't considered cannon (fnarr) is because Ron had nothing to do with it? Now I'm confused...

Reminds me very much of the art style in Guacamelee. I like it. It’s growing on me. Like a barnacle. Yarr.

It's the other way around with me. The more I see it, the less I like it. But if the writing is on par with the previous games written by Gilbert, I won't mind that much.

Wikipedia says something else entirely:

Writers: Jonathan Ackley, Chuck Jordan, Chris Purvis & Larry Ahern.

Artists: Larry Ahern & Bill Tiller.

I fucking love the Guacamelee art style. In fact, I think it'd suit a short side story for Manny Calavera. Though people would get mad.

People did also have a problem with the COMI art style at the time too, as well as it not being a 'proper' sequel. But now it's got a deeply rooted connection to nostalgia, it's become a protected entity. It's probably my personal favourite, but I love seeing new interpretations.

Unpopular opinion: I've never liked Dominic Armato as Guybrush. He sounds like he is just 'reading lines' - each has the same cadence. One line is simply Guybrush blowing a raspberry but Armato pronounces it "thblblblb". To be fair that's the director's job - they should have asked him to record it again. It was like no-one was paying attention.

Very excited for the new game though. Happy for Gilbert to use whatever art-style he chooses!
