If you impact his rush, can he still impact your impact?

Green legs!

Indeed he can. Even in strings, if you cancel a blocked attack into drive rush and they do drive impact in response, you can still counter it as long as you haven't committed to another action. If your next action is fast enough and can be cancelled into drive impact, you can sometimes *still* counter.

But yeah, Gief having drive rush into plus on block normal to force the command grab 50/50 is nasty. Green legs indeed.

Looks like he ends up pretty far away after landing all SPDs and you to have spend drive rush afterwards to get real pressure. They seem very similar to Alex's command grabs in SFV. Cash them out for big damage but then your turn is kind of over unless you do something very specific or spend a resource to keep it.

They're a bigger risk than ever if he whiffs in SF6. If you neutral jump his SPD, your jump attack will be a punish counter, which I expect will be advantageous enough for characters to do combos that aren't possible otherwise. You will die hard for whiffing command grabs, so I think the juicy damage is probably warranted.

This game needs a 1/4 speed replay option (with adjusted audio quality) to salivate over the insane care Capcom put into every frame. It's insane.

Street Fighter V had slow motion as well as the option to advance frame by frame so I expect it does. Might have already been part of the beta but I can't remember.

Manon looks ferocious, especially since the medal counter doesn't reset between rounds (or ever reduce at all?) but there are a lot of awkward animations in that match. Feels a little stiff, especially Cammy's throw and Manon's crouch. I dunno if that's a symptom of motion capture, I felt the same about a few SFV characters' animations, especially Rose.

Wasn't as jarring on a repeat watch so maybe I just need to get used to them.

Capcom Pro Tour changes the rules on leverless SOCD. Up+Down must now be neutral rather than up.

Brook have already said there will be a compliant patch for the UFB, Hitbox as a company have made some noise but reaffirmed that U+D=U is fine for most other fighting games.

So I guess we’ll see a patch from the alongside their mythical PS5 compatibility mode.

edit - Brook firmware patch is now up!

She's definitely awkward-looking; but I kind of love the idea that she might be awkward-looking because she's supposed to be a dancer? Maybe that's giving too much benefit of the doubt. I found Luke's animations very stiff in 5, but he seems better here, so I dunno.

Rooflemonger's videos on the last two demo fights, for those like me who struggle to spot any nuance beyond "wey hey look at them hit each other!"

And his summary of the different characters' buff/resource mechanics:

What's the best way to play this on Xbox when it comes out? I don't really want an arcade stick because it's expensive and I'm not great with using them. I have some madcatz fighting pads which I used for SF IV on 360 back in the day but they don't seem to work on Xbox. Is there similar pads available for Series consoles? I did some searching but didn't find anything.

Edit: There's the Hori SERIES X Fighting Commander but it doesn't really get great reviews.

360 stuff doesn't work without an adapter apparently

Doesn't bode well for my RAP, I haven't used it in years. Apparently this is the doofer you need but it only has 1 USB socket

Someone who actually knows what they're talking about may be more helpful though.

Yeah if you already have those Mad Catz 360 pads then a that Brook converter is probably the cheapest option.

Maybe give the game a go on the standard Xbox Series controller though? If you're comfortable with it there's no point buying something you don't need.

You could try it with some existing fighting game or wait to see if the rumours of an open beta test before this month ends are true.

EDIT: source for the beta test rumour:

A 30min Street Fighter 6 showcase is scheduled for next Thursday 20th April at 11pm UK time. Hosted by Lil Wayne and featuring news on World Tour, Fighting Ground and Battle Hub modes with "big news*" at the end of the show.

*Rufus is big... 🤔

There’s a good chance the news is a bit of a showcase of DLC characters.

Hopefully the even bigger news is that the first DLC is available very soon after launch as the original plan was that the first DLC characters were going to be part of the initial roster. Basically I want A.K.I as soon as possible.

Edit: Actually wasn’t there a slip from some streamer close to Capcom recently that there was another planned Beta before launch? There’s a good chance that may be the news.

Mentioned above. I'm still waiting on some C. Viper news.

I'm keen to see the Team Battle mode. In the cracked PC Beta, modders were able to access a version of its 3v3 fights. After a character is KO'd (K'd O?) they remain lying in the background and the next fighter tags in immediately with no loading. Super Meter is shared between characters though Drive resets to full for the fresh fighter. Seems fun, I hope they have matchmaking for it, or at least occasional team battle events so the mode's player numbers surge occasionally. It was 100% dead almost immediately in USFIV.

USFIV and SFV both had team battles but with loading/transition after each KO. Also the former could only be played online and the latter offline, which was frustrating. It's a great mode for groups of friends of varied skill levels.

Street Fighter 6 will hopefully offer more options. Optimistically hoping for a janky implementation of tag assists too, for fun.

Do we think there will be matchmaking for some souls-like co-op/invasions within World Tour?

It would be cool to see some inventive "co-op" events in World Tour that pit a team of players against a beef CPU opponent or two. For instance, gather a crew to take on a 'roided Zangief with way more HP and super armour on everything. Or recruit a team to challenge the giant Galactus boss from Marvel 3. :P

It would basically be Street Fighter Duel with direct control.

The first round of DLC characters has been leaked months ago.

No Rufus, dude. No Rufus.

Delete this.

Were they really leaked? If so I haven't seen it. So I'm going to have a go at guessing the first DLC characters:

One obvious choice: Akuma 😏

Two classic characters: Fei Long, plus either Sagat or Sakura. (Sorry, Claw and Boxer!)

One SF3 or Alpha character who wasn't in SF5: I doubt Makoto will turn up in this first DLC round. Yun and Yang will probably come later, as a pair. No Hugo since we've got Marisa. Mmmmmmaybe Dudley? I think Dudley is more likely to turn up than Balrog, but I'll guess: Adon.

One weirdo wildcard who makes everyone go WTF: Remy? Rufus? Rolento? None of those! I'm going to say... El Fuerte.
