Can not wait!! This is better news than BOTW 2, hands down, I have spend almost 300 hours on BOTW so far, but between XC:DE, XC2 and Torna, I must be well over 500 hours.

Maths says no.

500/3 = 163.33hrs per game.

Ahhh, but, I am into my 3rd play through of BOTW, it WILL be my last.

XC took 100+ hours, single play through, I don't like it like I do 2.

XC 2 took 170+ Hours, then I started NG+, am up to 100+ on a second playthrough and will finish it before XC 3 but after BOTW .

Torna took 175 and I got every thing out of it that I could, but "might" go back for a second playthrough, it's just that with BOTW it's easy to do a short half hour run and then do somethign else, with XC, that's it, I wake, I play, I go to sleep, it ruins my normal life, but it's soooo much better 😛

” this will be our last reveal…”

boom! Sequel to the sequel to the best rpg ever and it’s coming out in 7 months.

’bows’

And , sequel to a launch window game that's already had a definitive re-release of the original after it and a mighty DLC pack.

Is it heresy to say I’d prefer it if the combat was based on pressing buttons and not auto attacks? I bounced of XBC2 after the combat started to grate.

Yes... I am too used to XC2 combat now, once it clicks, it is just satisfying, and come on, do you REALLY want to be hitting those teeny tiny joycon buttons to swing a blade? Think of us deranged folk who will mostly be playing this on a Switch Lite for starters... now, if they just so happen to announce a Switch Lite OLED, that'll be the cherry on top of the icing on top of the multiple layers of goodness that direct was 😛

What I will say though, tbf, is that XC2 combat is confusing and it takes a while for it to click. I watched some YouTube’s on how to get the most out of it and they really helped. If you building up a nice combo of characters, blades, skills etc - you can get a nice wee battle engine going.

Thought the characters looked a bit generic (a bit XCX) on my first watch of the trailer on my phone, but it looked better on a big screen. Still not sure they've got the same level of personality and varied sillhouettes as the XC2 cast. I hope it doesn't lean too heavily on the plot of the XC1 Switch extra content, as I haven't played that, and I'm not sure I've got the energy to replay XC1 again.

Good to see the High Entia and the Gormotti both make a return!

I will certainly buy it, but perhaps not Day 1. Give it six months to soak up some patches based on my experience with XC2.

I’ve been wanting to play the Xenoblade games for years now, yet have stubbornly refused to have a Nintendo console since the GameCube days!

I just know that if I do buy a Switch, Nintendo WILL announce a new version of it just out of their loathing of me.

But, this may well happen nonetheless!

Too much good stuff out there these days.

Although the character design in this looks quite generic, I'm so glad they've steered away from the embarrassment of Xenoblade 2's anime boobfest.

I'm curious who is writing/directing this one, I thought the story and characters of Xeno 1 were much better than Xeno 2, although I think the combat system was better in 2. I wonder if its too much to ask to not have an annoying/pervo Riki type character in this one?

Anyway always hyped to see a return to this awesome universe and hoping for more epic cutscenes than 2, Xeno 1 had way more dramatic scenes in that regard.

I was really pleased to see this announced, and so close to release — XCX was a flawed gem, and XC2 just an outright gem (that particular rarity: a JRPG I actually finished), so I'm hoping XC3 lives up to them. I really do need to try and push on with XC1 as well; odd that I've always bounced off the original, but so it goes!

Just so long as they continue to avoid this specific silhouette from XC2 I'll be happy:

(honestly, my biggest criticism of the series as a whole is that they pair some of the best landscapes in gaming with some of the absolute worst character designs. Like they min-maxed their art direction)

I think XC1 is the better game than XC2, in almost every way. 2's combat was slightly more interesting, and I did like its crazy system of combos and flowcharts, but 1 did a fantastic job of addressing many classic RPG bugbears, and then the developers of 2 had the nerve to add a fucking Gacha system to my offline game.

Also I couldn't dress up the characters how I wanted in 2, so it sucks!

My main problem with XC1 is that the protagonist was so boring. Same problem with XC2, but he's quickly joined by characters I actually cared about, whereas XC1 initially pairs you with Other Boring Guy and Friend Whose Fate is Entirely Signposted, so I just couldn't get invested. My guess/hope is that the party develops/integrates more interesting characters as it goes on, but I never got far enough to find out!
