They’re technically in an adult oriented Star subsection which can be locked away outside the US and on a separate service in the US.

Gotta say, I am looking forward to this one. Moon Knight does seem like a really interesting character (having never read any of the comics) and it looks very cool too.

Read the comics, I will be shocked if the show is even as half as weird as the comics often are. 
 

I would recommend either the runs by Jeff Lemire or Warren Ellis as the best ones to read.

First critic reviews are out and (as ever) they're very positive. Talk of it being the best show they've done, lots saying how Indiana Jones like it is, with psychological and horror elements, Isaac is great... Biggest dissenting notes seem to be it gets a bit silly and it's not as mad as it could be in the 4 episodes shown.

I dunno. I don't think they've had a slam dunk series yet, but I don't think there's been a real stinker either.

 

Wandavision has great ideas and fun moments but then kinda bottles the things it seems to be perfectly setting up, so goes out with a bit of a wet fart. But overall the series is inventive and fun.

 

Falcon and the Winter Soldier is probably the worst thing they've done, which mostly seems to come from it's concept being a bit of a mess that makes the entire show feel a bit confused. Oh and it's threat is terrible with a godawful central performance as the villain.

 

Loki was bizarre but fun fluff.

 

Hawkeye was genuinely good low stakes street level action stuff, that tells a side story very well.

 

I think the biggest issue these shows have had, and certainly in the case of Wandavision, is they shy away from places their story sets up or threatens to go. 

 

It's not the highest bar, but if they can knock out a solid action adventure with some weird horror/mythology stuff, and stay somewhat close to the better stuff from the comic sources for the character, this could be the best thing they've done. And they might be helped by the fact it appears it's quite standalone, they haven't got to worry about the show going too big in what it does or setting up events that affect the series as a whole in major ways.

Actual reviews of the 4 episodes released to critics are out.

 

Apparently it's solidly good, Oscar Isaac dominates it, first episode is the highlight, has good action with the violence and gore upped a bit, some intriguing turns, left people wanting more but also probably the series that most needs to deliver a big ending they've done. On the downside it's supposedly quite messy, it's not as weird as it suggests it could get, theres not tons of action, some CGI is rough and Marc Spector isn't the most eye catching personality.

 

Oh and there's hints that Mr Knight isn't quite what comic fans might want, which is disappointing

 

But on the whole I'll take a solid 7/10 Moon Knight show.

Enjoyable first episode. Not really what you might expect from this kind of show, it basically doesn't tell you much of anything that's going on - it's not an origin, we're just thrown into the chaos of an ordinary guys life that happens to have something very weird going on that he doesn't understand.

 

I can understand the criticism that some of the CG is rough. The chase scene has a couple of 'fuck it that'll do' shots.

 

But a decent start. It doesn't 'feel' very MCU, in a way it doesn't feel as polished (Hawke has some clunkers of lines and I don't think this villain would be portrayed this way if this was a movie, for instance) but equally not that it's bad, per se. There's a set up for something fun and interesting.

Enjoyed the first episode, only issue I had was the exaggerated accents. Felt like I was watching Eastenders.

This appears to have a higher age rating than the other MCU shows, is there anything particularly concerning in it so far? My 12-year-old will be disappointed if he can’t watch it, but he might have to wait if it’s more in line with the Netflix shows than, say, Hawkeye.

In the first episode it's got some very, very minor 'scares' (i.e.

a scene of a dark corridor with a big creature shuffling towards the camera and making slightly creepy noises, and someone being chased by a demonic dog like creature in very dark surroundings

) and it's got some scenes with blood, but you don't see where the blood has come from (i.e.

Spoiler

the hero is shown with hands covered in blood and with bodies around him but you don't see how it happened - though we might in a later episode...

).

 

The later episodes are apparently a bit more noticeably violent than most MCU stuff, from reviewers comments, but nothing to the extent of the Netflix stuff. In this first episode the violence is almost slapstick and you don't really see any harm from it. The closest thing to a real fight lasts milliseconds and is in the trailers.
