Quantum Leap Reboot - Oh Boy!

Good to see Ernie Hudson's involved. I'm sceptical but won't right it off out the gate, there's certainly potential in it if they get it right.

Not sure about that. I think period shows tend to be relatively expensive because you need to find / buy / make costumes, find period vehicles, dress sets as appropriate for the time period, etc. And the programme has a different locale and era for every episode, so you have to do all that separately for each installment. It's basically an anthology series, and they tend to be expensive. There are few/no consistent sets or locations.

OK, so I can't find exact figures but I do have "episode sales prices" which you would expect to match. So a high budget show would have a high sale price, right? To cover their costs, at least. I know cheap shows that are popular can command a higher price, but we can at infer something...

That says in the late 80s, early 90s, episodes of QL sold for $300,000. The Wonder Years (period show, but same every week), $500,000. Alf (comedy sci-fi), $980,000. Murder She Wrote (anthology), $450,000. The A Team (usually anthology, $950,000).

An expanded description

It's been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.

Everything changes, however, when Ben (Raymond Lee) makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it. At Ben’s side throughout his leaps is Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She’s a decorated Army veteran who brings level-headed precision to her job.

At the helm of the highly confidential operation is Herbert “Magic” Williams (Ernie Hudson), a no-nonsense career military man who has to answer to his bosses who won’t be happy once they learn about the breach of protocol. The rest of the team at headquarters includes Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who runs the Artificial Intelligence unit “Ziggy,” and Jenn Chou (Nanrisa Lee), who heads up digital security for the project.

As Ben leaps from life to life, putting right what once went wrong, it becomes clear that he and the team are on a thrilling journey. However, Addison, Magic, Ian and Jenn know that if they are going to solve the mystery of Ben’s leap and bring him home, they must act fast or lose him forever.

What happens if he jumps into the body of Sam at some point?

You know this is going to happen.

They are removing the waiting room.. that was a good part of the original. You had Al popping in there learning about the person, extra details personal etc. and you could have really good guest stars. Seems weird to cut that out.
