The new Bob Vylan is excellent. They lean more into dub and hip-hop compared to their previous work, that's not a bad thing at all, it's just different despite covering the same subject matters.

A must listen

Just caught them live. Enjoyed them slaughter some of rock’s sacred cows such as Elvis, the Beatles and Bowie. I prefer this new album, they’ve definitely found their groove on it.

The new Poets Of The Fall album is probably their best of the last decade. Some beautiful, sweeping tracks which recapture the majesty of their Carnival Of Rust album:

Never heard of them before this post (thanks Amazon useless things you might like recommended page).  Hearing Marillion, Kayak, Riverside and a bit of Galahad in there.

I love that I know all those bands, haha. Yes, certainly shades of all of the above. I don't think they'd fall into the prog camp, in the sense that their aim isn't to push at the boundaries of any particular genre but they certainly have that maturity of sound to them and they let a song go as long as it needs to, to get the best out of it.

Been enjoying Alestorm's latest album recently, how can you not when one of the lines from one of their songs is:

"Yo! Ho! Stick a cannonball up your cunt"

That's some pure Scottish pirate banter right there
