Not a great day, just couldn't see the word and spellcheck is as confused by some of my guesses as I am.

After that, I spent a long time trying to think of a second guess that fit. I could think of words that would have fit the pattern xEIxx (e.g. reign) but the only words that fit xxEIx omitted the R (e.g. skein). Didn't get it until I wondered what would happen with the R at the end.
