It's still a nasty disease that is everywhere, that can still kill or cause Long Covid in the fully vaccinated, regardless of whether the media and the government have decided it's all over. So plenty of people will decide to be more cautious.

It's something I'm happy to avoid for the sake of seeing an MCU film at home six weeks later.

Yep, this. Plus I'd feel awful if someone I lived with got long COVID because I took an avoidable risk.

I just watched it and really enjoyed it. And I'm indifferent to marvel films now.

Like others have said, covid. Plus it was coming out on D+ in no time at all.

I was getting marvel fatigue in the run up to infinity war (although I did enjoy that) 

 

Now I just don't think it's worth it. They can't go back to having standalone movies

PK laying the trap there for someone to comment on Thor Ragnarok and then be accused of spoilering it! I deftly avoid the trap.

 

I thought Dr Strange was middling, as for Ragnarok

It's too comedy for my tastes and I really dislike the scene where Bruce face plants into the bridge. I want awesome HULK, I feel like he's been poorly treated by the MCU generally. Or at least, the MCU quite often fails to have the Hulk match up to my expectations.

Because it costs about fifty fucking quid, you're surrounded by people eating, there's always some twat with their phone backlight on full and you can't pause it when you need the loo. And everyone's got Covid. Cinemas are rubbish. I'm very happy to wait a matter of literally a few weeks to watch it in the comfort of my own home.

Watched it last night - still one of my faves. I always prefer the Marvel movies that have lots of humour, I think it’s what separates them from a lot of the more serious takes on super heroes which I find a bit of a slog sometimes.

I thought it was okay, but it's not one I'd rewatch. Felt it was trying a bit too hard to be funny (not as badly as like GotG2, mind.)

 

Like of of the films though, I will watch them because I like the whole MCU experience. I just find that there are a lot of misses for me, including some of the more revered films (Ragnarok being one.)

The reason I ask is Ragnarok and this are, for me, the two best MCU films and I was wondering if there was something specific about both of them which puts people off.

 

I can't really put my finger on why they're my favourites, other than a vague sense that they have real character rather than being slightly generic-but-enjoyable like the rest of them. Wandavision is also my favourite MCU TV series, I think for the same vague reason.

I really enjoyed the Raimi bits in this, didn’t find it too tonally dissonant or “messy” as I’ve heard it called in many reviews. But some of the ingenious Raimi-led in-camera sequences could have been a lot longer and some CG float-fests could have been shortened or removed. There was some really barrel-scraping CG at times. It also seemed to me that some scenes were edited awkwardly, probably to dodge a higher rating. 
 

If you don’t like Raimi-bits or you’re just watching for torturous future setup nods to the rest of the MCU this probably won’t do it for you because the Marvel-centric bits are quite dull. 
 

A decent 3/5. Would have loved to see a totally Raimi-led vision with complete creative control but there was a lot more Raimi than I thought there’d be.

Ragnarok is my 7th favourite, this sits at 21 out of 33 (the list includes the TV shows)

Where the fuck you going where it costs £50? Even as a family of 4 it costs us no more than £20.

 

I love the cinema, the surrounding people don't bother me unless it's teenagers being loud and tbh that's very rare. I can only remember once in the last 20+ times that happened.

At the Empire in Birmingham it’s £10.50 for a standard ticket. That’s up about £3 on pre-pandemic. IMAX is £16 each. 
Easy enough to save on that with Meerkat codes though.
