I’m trying to enjoy this but it’s just so painfully average in everything it does. Visuals, gameplay, level design. Some of the dullest bosses that, you guessed it, spawn in as regular enemies later on and a rather stingy upgrade tree are really sucking the fun out it it.

It looks pretty scrappy, too. Stuttering 30fps in 4k ish or 60fps that looks rather plain in 1080p with very basic looking lighting and an odd glowing effect on the playable character.

There’s fun to be had in small doses, I guess and I understand that they were aiming for an old school xbox360 era shooter but there’s better actual Xbox360 era shooters already.

I started this today and am about 2 hours in. So far I’m enjoying it. I can see people’s gripes with it, but I’m fine with it being a bit janky, I do like a 7/10 type game. I’ll carry on and see how far I get, I’m already pretty sure it’ll be a single play through and done, but hoping to enjoy that journey.

I really enjoyed this as a B Movie inspired old-school game and wanted to get the platinum but the last level on Evil difficulty has appalling checkpoints so giving up. Trying any longer will spoil my time with it so moving on to another game. I would like to see more from the game world too - they scratch the surface but never fully flesh out the whole thing.
