2 days from release and no reviews I can see.

Yet from the  previews it  looks 7/10 ish to me, so far from dreadful.

Its meant to be 10-15 hrs single player.

Whats going on?

I'm reviewing it. The embargo is the day before release, which is pretty normal.

The optimisation for the current consoles sounds questionable.

I definitely wouldn't be buying it on series s.

Seems like a generally GPU-limited game. The premium consoles double performance at lowered resolution, which is a very typical trade-off and even XSS owners aren't going to want to put up with 720p resolution, just to get 60fps.

The real weird ones are the X1 and PS4P. One seems to be punching above its weight if the GPU is the primary limiter and the other is way lower resolution in comparison to the X1X.

The PC specs indicate it's not generally super heavy on the CPU.

To be fair, it's doing what it's supposed to be doing: playing games at 1080p that the Series X renders at 4k.

Interesting that the Xbox One X matches the Series X and PS5 in terms of resolution and framerate, so perhaps there's more to the differences between the systems.

I'm generally skeptical of the benefits of resolution over framerate (what's the point of 4k of blurred and smeary pixels?) so wouldn't be playing it at 30fps anyway, but I am interested to see how the game reviews. If it does well, I'll probably grab it and play it at 1080p/60fps.

There's no way the X is limited to 1080p with 60 fps on a third person action game without someone fucking something up surely?

If it looks like the footage in the trailers, even at 1080p, that'll be a good looking game.

When old games get bumped up to 4k, they still mostly look like very old games. This might be the opposite..?

If it was possible to make a game look photorealistic at 1080p, a game that looked like a film on Blu Ray, it'd be a great achievement, but I assume would require more power than is available.

The reviews are coming out now.

As someone said upthread, it's very much a 7/10 type game. The combat is certainly fun, but the level design and scenario/story around it is all a bit flat. If you fancy a big silly brawler, you should be pretty happy.

Woot. Took a chance on this for £30 for a steam code in the Voidu sale as I thought it looked proper old school AA fun so delighted that’s exactly what it’s turned out to be.
