So what are your favourites?

Loved Zero Punctuation for years... nails some common observations about gaming... can be a bit sweary at times though so not safe for around kids or in the office without headphones... Below is an idea of how it goes... (AAA games)

* note did a quick search on this topic and couldn't find anything recentish... admins feel free to merge if there is one! :)

I fucking loathe Zero Punctuation. An absolute joyless twat of a man.

My favourites are My Life in Gaming, which is a little more retro-tech focused, but otherwise always great.

Also Action Button reviews with Tim Rodgers, which already has a whole thread.

Stop Skeletons from Fighting, Scott the Woz and Girlfriend Reviews are all fun.

I tried the three channels that emerged from the Super Best Friends fallout - WoolieVersus probably has some of the best variety and is the most "wholesome" of the three but Woolie himself can be a bit stubborn and ignorant so you kind of have to power through some nonsense.

Also I dip in and out of The Sphere Hunter's channel as she has some great insights into certain rllmuk favourites - DMC, Resident Evil, a bit of FromSoft...

EDIT: also plenty of our own forumites have good channels:

Haven't got time to post all my faves, so will quickly post Jacob Geller in here, he's more of a thinky / arty / essayist type, and isn't always about videogames, but a lot of it is.. He's fab.

Ok, some more from me!

Cool Ghosts, who sadly seem to have stopped these days thanks to the huge popularity of their excellent board game sister channel Shut Up and Sit Down (also recommended), but the back catalogue is still worth a watch if you've not seen them before :)

The excellent Game Maker's Toolkit, does lots of stuff about what makes games good/interesting.  Nice mini series on different topic, for e.g. Boss Keys is a series on metroidvania / zelda style environment/dungeon design. Am particularly enjoying Mark's new series about making his own game!

Hbomberguy, tends to do more lefty-debunking-idiots stuff (which I also recommend as he's pretty entertaining imo) but some of his games / film stuff is great, these two are awesome:

Superbunnyhop does some good stuff

And finally, Errant Signal does some interesting vids, a fave of mine is an oldie about Spec Ops the Line

And finally a shameless plug for my own channel, I haven't posted in ages but I've done a few chill playthroughs of things if that's your bag, plus a few guides for games I love :)

Also, everyone on this forum who grew up in the 80s/90s needs to watch a bit of Tim.  He's absolutely superb.

He's a bit like the Stewart Lee of videogames.  ❤️

For straight-up reviews which I use as a general guide for new stuff, I like ACG:

https://www.youtube.com/c/AngryCentaurGaming

His rating system is "Buy", "Wait for sale", or "Skip", which I like.

For Space & Flight games I like ObsidianAnt:

https://www.youtube.com/c/ObsidianAnt

For RPGs and MMOs, I like Fextralife:

https://www.youtube.com/c/Fextralife

(specifically for Darkest Dungeon, https://www.youtube.com/c/ShuffleFM)

You should have a look at Shooting Game Weekly https://www.youtube.com/user/STGWeekly

Not been weekly for a long time, but it generally concentrates on 1-credit playthroughs and in-depth shmup talk.

My pics from a lot I subscribe to:

Cannot Be Tamed - https://www.youtube.com/c/Cannotbetamed1 - generally watch Pam for her PC game reviews, she tends to go for adventures. Gone a bit off the boil lately as she is mainly doing ranking videos but she's good.

Worth A Buy - https://www.youtube.com/c/WorthABuyreviews - this Geordie reviews PC games and mixes up big titles with early access and the like. He can get a bit anti-woke at times and goes off on one, that'll put some people off, but when he sticks to the reviews he does a good job highlighting interesting PC games.

Raycevick - https://www.youtube.com/c/Raycevick - really well presented videos mainly covering games from the 00s, he is in his mid-20s by the sounds of it. It's always interesting to hear people getting all nostalgic for gaming as kids when they had a PS2.

Game Maker's Toolkit - https://www.youtube.com/c/MarkBrownGMT - I think many people here will be aware already but if not you're in for a treat. Superbly-produced videos about games design.

Modern Vintage Gamer https://www.youtube.com/c/ModernVintageGamer - another one I'm sure is well known here, ex-Xbox hacker does videos about console hacking, emulation, console architecture and comments on issues around game distribution and preservation.

That'll do whilst I'm not logged into Youtube.

Oh yeah, Mack / WaB is brilliant! Calls a spade a spade!

MVG was part of the XBMC team wasn’t he? His videos aren’t the slickest, but he is very knowledgable so we’ll worth subscribing to him!
