I cannot get Sony’s checkout process to work in a browser, on either my phone or a computer. Hangs every time. 
 

I only managed to renew my existing sub on my ps4 in the store checkout there. 
 

There must be some terrible internal reporting (or some really crappy JavaScript) if this isn’t getting spotted. I noticed a few other comments on twitter before Xmas too.

Yup, managed to get it working on the PS5 itself no problem. Can only agree with you about how shoddy their web experience is.

Was just browsing the classics catalogue, you know the one I pay £100

per year for, selected Mafia, and they want £34.99. How can it be this crap/borderline illegal? This is on the PS5 itself.

I've paid for a month of the middle tier of PS Plus (Extra). Can anyone tell me, is the Director's Cut PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima on there for 'free'.

 

I've got the PS4 disc of GoT and thought I'd upgraded to the Director's Cut PS5 version of the game using PS Plus, but the lip sync for the Japanese dialogue isn't activated, and the game looks like ass, suggesting I'm not playing the DC version. I can turn on Kurosawa mode, but I can't actually tell what version of the game I'm playing when I'm in the game. The whole PlayStation multiple version thing makes it a complete chore, too.

 

Can I play the best version of the game through PS Plus, or do I have to buy the upgrade?

Hmm. I'm not sure why the lip syncing isn't working, then, unless I have to turn it on somehow. I've completely uninstalled everything, removed the PS4 disc and have reinstalled the PS5 version on PS Plus, so hopefully that will sort it. Apparently there isn't a non-Director's Cut version on PS5, so the PS5 version is the DC one by default.

I don’t know. It’s beyond me that anyone can say that the psn store isn’t a UX disaster zone hiding a load of predatory business practices, that they only get away with because they’re the market leader.

see also “allow you to purchase things (ex PS Plus games) that you have access to in another way” ^ or “show things as being in your library (based on god knows) that you’re going to then be asked to pay for”.

 

^ the dark UX pattern is that you’re actually just prompted with pay - no indication that you already have access at all.

Could turn out to be a load of bollocks but the leaks have been accurate in recent months. I'd be really pleased with OlliOlli World.

I’m glad Sony appears committed in supporting the lowest tier of PS Plus and adding value to it. Compare that with Games With Gold on Xbox and you’re lucky if you’ve even heard of the games these days, it’s a bit of a joke really.

Its okay (and will give you Statis if you have the current/next expansion).

 

Witch Queen would have been better as a stand alone product for the uninitiated as the campaign for that is genuinely great

Not currently.  They had a sale both before and just after Christmas, but it's all full price at the moment.  Your best option is to buy some wallet credit from Shopto or somewhere similar, but it's not much of a saving.

Last time I tried Destiny 2, I couldn’t make head or tail of online, the hub and the million currencies/shops/stands/stuff. Have they streamlined it at all — think it was when they had BL included with Game Pass. 
 

Failing that, what’s a good site or YouTuber to help out a clueless old man.

It's confusing as fuck to a newbie, and Bungie don't have any intention to change that. Even old-timers that take some time out struggle to work out where it's at when they come back. The tl;dr of it is find a buddy and have them walk you through it.

Could someone remind me how unsubbing works? I have Plus Extra and it's up for yearly renewal soon. 

 

If I unsub before the renewal date will the games added to my library be waiting for me when I subscribe again down the line? 

 

And is there an unsub time limit before you lose that library?

The monthly Essential games: yes.

 

The Extra games: no, unless they’re still available on the service.
