Its a problem they have created through greed (banning stacking before the new tiers implemented / getting shot of the cards you can buy and raising prices) and the poor implementation of tiers, make the top tier worth the money and you don’t  have the issue of vast swathes of people downgrading when what ever ‘deal’ they are on runs out.

 

You’re point is of course valid and as Sony are as anti consumer as they come its hardly a surprise and the worst of it is that I will probably just get a cheaper top tier renewal than be forced to pay full whack on renewal date in January.

 

Not that Sony (or anyone else) will care but it’s killed any FOMO I have about a PSVR2 preorder,  buying the new GOW game or the on offer Horizon game.

You can downgrade, just not preemptively at a discounted offer price.

I know this, all the cards are in Sonys hands - I can’t cancel my sub and get a pro-rate rebate or just cancel it and take advantage of the cheap price now.

The games catalogue/classics catalogue split really is super weird. I used to have Premium as I had PS Now before that, but it lapsed a month ago and I’ve just gone for Extra and won’t really use the streaming.

 

Classics, to me, should be PS1/PS2/PS3 stuff, but there’s a decent amount of PS4 stuff in there too. All of the Yakuza games, Limbo, plenty of others. It’s like there’s no real reason for them to be there, and makes it impossible to visualise the different propositions in your head, especially before you buy it.
 

Like, Nintendo have done this perfectly fine I think. The bottom tier gets you online play, SNES, NES. The next tier up gets you MD, N64, and free DLC. It’s well-defined. This really isn’t.

 

But £56 for PS Plus and Extra for a year is very decent in my opinion.

See my RDR comment earlier - it's not even clear when you *have* signed up. And you need to be super vigilant to make sure that you don't download something you shouldn't.

(Also Death Stranding PS5 was sometimes viewable from within "the game collection" and sometimes wasn't: it's a shit show).

Yeah they should be - I’ve just checked the app though and I can’t see ‘Ghost’ on there either, but I’ve downloaded it and it’s still playable on my PS5. I was under the impression once it leaves the library then you can’t play it, but then I’ve also noticed that some of my games say ‘purchased’ against them which would suggest that as long as I have my sub active then I could just play those I definitely. It’s unclear to the point of being totally baffling. 
 

And yeah there are games such as RDR2 and others which although listed in the game catalogue as part of your subscription, they are not ‘free’ and are priced individually. It’s bloody stupid. 
 

NBA 2K22 is £59.99 :lol:

I am currently going through every game one by one and adding them to my library and most of them show ‘purchased’ so it will be interesting to see in future if they remain playable once they leave the library. 
 

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony are allowing you to add every game just like PS plus monthly games.

Miles Morales was definitely viewable through one mechanism or another. What happens if you search for it on the store - does it have a "download" option?

It does feel like a half-arsed alternative to Game Pass whose only advantage is that it's a relatively small amount of money on top of a PS Plus subscription. I can't imagine paying full price for it or Premium.

How do you know, have any actually left the library yet since the new tiers were introduced? 
 

But yeah I’ve not really explored it properly, and RDR2, for example, is listed, but is only available to purchase. I mean that’s a pretty big game to have in your library and yet fuck it up so spectacularly. 
 

Ghost of Tsushima is listed under ‘player favourites’ in the recently added games section on the website, yet when I click on it’s priced at £34.99. I have it on my console right now and played it earlier :blink:

No, but then I’ve not upgraded to ‘Extra’ yet. I’m just trying to get a handle of what games I’ll get access to. So far the only big PS5 games I can see that are included are Returnal and Demon’s Souls. There’s no evidence that Ghosts or Miles Morales are included.

I have premium and it makes little difference. It’s a mess and these are big games they are using to sell their service. I’d be miffed thinking I’ll upgrade and there’s no Death Loop, RDR2, Spider-Man etc.

"Big" PS5 games - your opinions on tiering may vary.

Unfortunately the only ones I don't own or haven't played are... the two in the unknown column (and Stray, but I wasn't impressed very much last night).

RDR2 is not on there, it left a while ago so what you are seeing is accurate

Me not logged in to the web store, seems to clearly show what is on plus and what tier as well as purchase price outside of that? The console UI around it is rubbish though

I wouldn't trust that list. It's obviously the launch list which they don't fucking bother updating. Me saying "not on there" means on the service. 

 

Each store page accurately shows the current situation on the webstore. Even the fucked games that have like six different editions (like GoT Directors Cut) show you all the editions when you scroll down the page to confirm its on the service

Yeah, so the list on the PS+ website and the console itself is clearly maintained by hand, and not very well. I eventually satisfied myself that GoT is on Extra, though even on the store page like the one uzi posted above it’s still not clear. I had to scroll down to ‘editions’ where I found ‘Ghost of Tsushima (PS+ edition)” as a separate entry. :rolleyes:

Sonys whole system is a mess. I've found the web store is the best source to clarify what is on there if any doubt (keeping in mind you might need to scroll down the page with multiple edition games like Ghost of T)

Thing is I actually think Sony’s selection is better than Game Pass, it’s just a shame they can’t present it as well.
