I'm pretty sure all of the ones leaving are more than 6 months old on the service because they were on PS now. Greedfall has been there for at least a year if not way longer (I remember downloading it on PS now in 2020). It seems like less because they transferred over to the new ps plus

Pretty sure the mafia games have not been on for long. Was Greedfall given away recently as a PS+ game?

I've almost installed them at various times to see how bad they are but fortunately I've had too many actually good games to play :) Got the originals on Steam anyway.

They are fine. Nothing amazing but absolutely nothing near the typical overhyped internet hyperbole over them. I have them for PS5, playing Vice City now. The driving is infinitely better, shooting is improved, game is still a clunky 2002 PS2 game under the hood, but what can you do. You would be only fooling yourself pretending the PS2 versions are better.

Was also on PS now I think when it launched

GTA3 was on PS Now around a month after the collection launched but it was on there for two months or something silly so it was only on there for a few weeks after the first big update patch.

San Andreas was on Gamepass at launch and left in May.

I think this current run is the first time Vice City has been on either service.

Vice City was added to PS Now in May according to google, I remember downloading it around the time but not launching it well because they remasters sucked

I never had the now service, upgraded to PS Plus. Anyhow for me luckily I completed Mafia 1, started the 2nd game but it is such a lazy port I quit playing.

Enjoying Guardians of the Galaxy at the moment, thankfully that is not leaving so will finish soon. I guess I just need to prioritise subscription games over purchased games.

A game being on for one year or two years is irrelevant really, unless you’re playing something from the day it arrives on the service. That’s a decent amount of time for sure, but would I start a big game that’s already been on there for a year already? Probably not, because it could be announced in the next list of games leaving the service.

This is why I rarely play ‘big’ games on PS Now, Game Pass, or this new service. You could be in the middle of a game and it just disappears. That’s fine when it’s a film on Netflix, which takes 2 hours to watch before it disappears in a couple of weeks, but most games take dozens of hours to finish.

I am absolutely the same. I'm only really playing the wee indies on these services or on Gamepass, the MS produced games.

It's actually spurred me on to physically buy the games I want to own, and that's solely on PlayStation because - in general - there's an actual build on the disc that's had some kind of certification. I know the recent COD is an example that bucks the trend but generally.

Does it play on twitter is a great resource -

It would be great to have the date details when browsing the catalogue and even a leaving date so you can at least make an informed choice on what to play.

Yeah like, ‘Leaving Feb 2024’, but I’m sure the deals are more complicated than that? Maybe just a promise of it being on there until at least a certain date would be possible.

But this is Sony. They’re labelling PS2 games as PS4 ffs.

The PS+ Premium was a waste of money I should have just stuck with Extra but I should get my value out of the subscription. I've enjoyed Stray, Mafia & Guardians of the Galaxy is way better than I expected.

I'm mostly fine with the Game Pass approach. More notice would always be welcome, but there aren't many games I can't finish off in a couple of weeks if they appear in the 'Leaving Soon' section. They also let everyone know which games are leaving when they announce the new additions.

Sony, meanwhile, seem to have completely removed the 'Last Chance to Play' list from the PS+ menu.

All those PS3 Ratchet games will be streaming too! eeesh.

Yeah there are loads aren’t there. Whilst I’m glad they are added I must admit I’m disappointed with the ‘classics’ catalogue so far. Similar situation with the PS One Mini that came out a few years ago, very underwhelming selection so far.

I’ve had my eye on Soulstorm for a while, ideally a cheap copy for Xbox Series X, but I’ll happily get a month of plus and play it on PS4!

To help manage your expectations a little, it’s absolute dogshit.

Because of an existing PSPlus subscription (which I got for £20), I'm signed up to premium until July 2024. I can only hope that behind the scenes they're revamping their emulators, and by the end of my subscription we'll be seeing a better calibre of offerings and emulation. Unless that happens, I won't be renewing.

Another thing! I found going all digital for PS4 to be not too bad as most games were under 40 gig, so not too bad to download. That's ignoring the occasional COD mega-bastard that would run up to 150gigs or something daft. Most singleplayer games.

The new God of War is like 98 gigs?! I bought that on disc, if I'd bought it digitally I'd still be waiting on it downloading.

For me Extra is the sweet spot. It’s no Game pass but there’s plenty of decent PS4/PS5 games to play. If you buy cheap PSN credit then use that to buy the subscription it’s not too expensive.
Premium is guff. The streaming is not great, so that ruins the PS3 back catalogue. The much heralded back catalogue of PS1/PS2 games is actually a bit lame.
