"These PS5 games don't work"

"Is your console working ok?"

"My PS4 works fine thank you"

I mentioned I only had a PS4 before. Why don't you remember the details of my setup from 24 pages ago?

Yeah it doesn't really do any of that but it does randomly start throwing moments of peril at you. It's an odd one.

Yeah, it’s 100% definitely an odd one!

Having now finished it, it feels like it doesn’t know what it wants to be. Starts out feeling like it could be a bit Metroid Prime but, without the combat, just lots of exploration and environmental puzzles. That never pans out though. Then it feels like it wants to be an Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture style walking sim. That never really pans out though as the story/plot could fit on the back of a fag packet and isn’t very interesting.......or make much sense.

It’s not until the last 30mins to an hr that it finally hits its groove - ropey, DC era, Resident Evil clone. Finding 4 digit passcodes to get through doors. Crates on wheels that need to be pushed around so that you can climb onto them to reach platforms your character visibly should be able to climb onto anyway. Pressure pads you need to put stuff on to get through doors. A wonky stealth section. Dodgy insta-fail QTE sections. Even throws in some simple early Tomb Raider style platforming at the end. It’s all those bits that ended up being the most enjoyable part of the game, which says a lot. Can’t think of many games that had so much unfulfilled potential? So yeah, Deliver Us the Moon on a Stick. 6/10.

Gone for Bloodstained as my next Plus game. Played for an hr or so and it’s great, really enjoying it!

FFVII PS4 has been on PS+ before (it was added when Integrade came out IIRC) so it's nice to get the suped up PS5 version. I'd been holding out for that getting added to PS+ somewhere.

100% down for Stray.

Not so fussed about the rest - have already played them or discounted them - but the two above make it a decent month!

For once, a month I'm genuinely looking forward to.

I've finished FFVII but not played the Yuffie add on, and while the Avengers game never really made it big, it does look worth a play.

Stray is obviously the most interesting of the bunch.

It's been a while since I felt like this about PS+, can't wait!

To be honest they should start removing a few of the classics because that list is getting too big to handle.

I think you might need to adjust your expectations for what they’re doing with the retro stuff. Looks like they’ll be adding a couple a month rather than a big library dump at the beginning and that’s yer lot.

I know, it's just... They have a vast library and we're taking about THREE platforms here. PS1, PS2, PSP. They've added two games. If that's the rate they're adding classics (even without directly comparing it to how many PS4 games they're adding) makes me worry* that they don't have many to add. Think about how Xbox wasn't able to add many original Xbox games to BC because of licensing issues. Would also explain why they threw those three platforms in one list for the sake of optics.

*Genuinely, yes.

I think it’s a fair assumption they’re pretty restricted with what they can add yeah. Unlike Nintendo and SEGA, Sony and Microsoft didn’t really make their own games back then (certainly not to the extent they do now) So every big iconic title is going to need to be licensed from someone else.

I’m always conscious of the fact that Nintendo and Sony had a lot of these games for sale before on their respective Virtual Consoles and have the data to know exactly how worth it it is for them to pay for these licenses. Which is probably why we have the bundled together services now rather than an extensive library of stuff you could individually buy like we had on Wii/ PS3.

It was probably only us sad bastards that was buying them!

They're adding two PSP games to the classics lineup. Two.  No Heroes Allowed and LocoRoco Midnight Carnival.

Truly they are spoiling us with this lineup of classics.

...bit of a sniff of trolling here.

Getting FVII Remake on PS5 is good. I missed out on a few PlayStation exclusives, so the catalogue itself is excellent even if the delivery is a bit skew-whiff at times.

I really wish it still had MGS4 though - absolute travesty that there is no way of playing or accessing that game other than on the original hardware.

Also, where the hell is Ridge Racer :hmm:

Aren’t PS Plus subscribers able to get the PS5 upgrade now anyway, or is Intergrade something else?

If they are different, I think I’d rather not start this PS5 version and then not be able to play it in a few months when it inevitably leaves the service

do we know how games leave the service? is it like gamepass or is it like the ps plus collection where if you're subbed and you claim it, it stays in your library?

Yes, we know - when they leave you can't access them any more even if you "claimed" them. RDR2 is due to leave in a week or two.
