Cinema Passes

Yeah, I think it's only UGC cinemas that do it. There's more info on thier website. Everyone who has one says they are brilliant.

I have an Odeon near me, utterly wank. I wish they'd knock it down and build a proper bloody cinema here, so I could watch some decent films. I think there's a UGC in Nottingham, so I'll make sure to pick up a pass when I'm at Uni and knock myself out.

Its definatly worth doing. I joined up for a year (its ended now though) and watched a load of films during the year.

However, it was a good 35 mile journey there and back (which didnt bother me) but petrol was too expensive. Fair enough i had 2 mates with me who also had passes, but my car uses a lot of fuel so it was costing a little too much.

When I get a new car later this year we will probably rejoin it. Plus better films will start coming out in a few months...

Used to be a Manager at UGC so know all the spiele.

The pass is called an Unlimited pass and is £9.99 a month.

It is a minimum 12 month contract and is either payable as the whole 12 months upfront or 12 monthly instalments of £9.99 by direct debit.

Just take two forms of ID with you to your local UGC,one must have an address and one a signature and you will be given a temp card that lasts 28 days.Your proper card will arrive and this is used to swipe at the box office for tickets to performances.

Well worth it if you go the cinema more than twice a month.

They did some research and found out that the average Unlimited card holder goes to the cinema on average 47 times a year!

Me and the wife both have these, we are lucky as we have 2 UGC cinemas within a 20 minute drive. The UGC at Bolden Coliery used to be a Virgin cinema and is a bit tatty and must be avoided at the weekends (due to hordes of flippin pre-teens running about during the film), but has a Frankie and Bennies next door (giant meatballs...yum!).

Luckily the UGC at Middlesborough is new and clean. Best of all, they show a lot of independent films and have a great asian cinema season. We saw "spirited away", "sympathy for Mr.Vengeance", "Happiness of the Katakuris" and numerous other cult films. They even do a classic cinema night where they show older films, we saw alien, breakfast club....oh....and lots of others that have escaped my mind. You really can't beat watching a good film in a good cinema...

We love UGC ;)

So, I don't suppose Odeon or Showcase do these wonderful things?

No its only UGC that currently run the pass.

When I worked for them it was touted that they needed 100,000 active pass holders to make the thing profitable and they were just about approaching that figure about 6 months ago.We were told that the other cinema companies were watching to see how UGC did with it and if it were deemed to be successful then they would probably adapt a similar offer.

Mrs. Sideshow talked me into getting one last month, shes used hers a few times but I havent yet. Unfortuntaly my local UGC ( a 17 screen bohemeth) is a soulless hole of a place, with horrible customers and worse service. There is no ambience at all, it is enough to ruin any movie.

JUst what I was going to say...Is it the Renfrew Street one?

Always wanted to go to see what it was like but souless seems to sum it up from people who have been.

As for the poor service, isn't that indicative of every UGC you have ever been to?

Glasgow, then.

Its the Dublin one actually.

The only thing that appeals to me is that they start showing movies ay 10:30am, tomorrow is my day off so I think I may escape the hoi-polloi and try to catch a movie in the monring. Bet you a tenner I'll still have to wait 15 minutes to get a coffee at the bar...
