From the slums of Shaolin, Wu-Tang Clan strikes again on Xbox Series and of course the Steam Deck, as The RZA, the GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah, and the Method Man are all rumoured to soon star in their own RPG.

Skill trees might include the wu-tang sword style, tyger style, and shadowboxin'. Mini-games include chess and selling ice cream out of the back of an ice cream truck.

A new Windows Central report says that a Wu-Tang Clan-themed action RPG may be in development at Brass Lion Entertainment, a studio founded in 2017 by industry veterans Manveer Heir, Bryna Dabby Smith, and Rashad Redic.

Codenamed Project Shaolin, the game is a third-person action-RPG according to the report, with a beefy campaign of "a couple of dozen hours" and support for four-player co-op. It will offer seasonal content drops and other updates, through both procedural endgame dungeons and hand-made events. The Wu-Tang Clan will also be directly involved as the creators of the game's soundtrack.

The Windows Central report was bolstered by Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat, who strongly suggested in a podcast that he'd heard something similar. "It has to do with a musical act, I will say, that often uses Shaolin ... I'll just say it ain't nothing to fuck with. That's what I'll say."

What do you all think, will this be a triumph or bomb atomically?

I'm excited thinking about the possibilities. I mean, Wu-Tang Clan are a perfect fit for a party/class-based RPG!

Here's how I'd break it down:

RZA - bard, casts musical spells to mesmerize opponents and bolster his team

method man - red mage, specialising in inflicting Haze and Confuse on opponents, also uses fire spells as secondary ability

Ghostface Killah - rogue assassin, now you see him now you don't - now you dead

gza - loremaster, specializes in the written word and gatherer of secrets

Raekwon - Alchemist of course, cooking and brewing all kinds of potions

Ol' Dirty Bastard - fighter, melee specialist drunken style

INSpectah DECK - blue mage, able to analyse opponent's skills and use those against them. Drops atomic bombs as his secondary skill

Anyone else got some ideas? :)

I hope they go all crazy like the classic Def Jam Fight For New York and throw in random musicians and celebrities just for a laugh.

Henry Rollins was in that one FFS 😂

Yeah for all the fun I'm having with these posts if they actually go Def Jam FFNY crazy, they could make something similarly special.

Hopefully skill trees will lead to some special attacks...

That could lead to interesting player-led story choices! For example:

Your beaten opponent refuses to give you the info you need. Do you

A)tie him to a fucking bedpost

B)lay is his nuts on a fucking dresser

C)sew his asshole close

Player: B

:beaten opponent will remember that:

Yakuza LaD-style battle engine. Your class suggestions would be similar to LaD's job system, and then you'd just have the same awesome dynamism of walking into fights and getting perfect blocks and using oncoming traffic to your advantage and...

For variety they could use other environments besides the slums of shaolin - for example, a level set in the Brooklyn Zoo. Another in a Gravel Pit. And another during a Daytona 500 race.

Let's not forget Killah Hills 10304, that's a very precise zip code location.
