Who are the contenders for the best midfielders we've ever had? I'm going to narrow it down to central midfielders because it would be madness to include wide players.  Off the top of my head:

Duncan Edwards

Bobby Charlton

Bryan Robson

Roy Keane

Paul Scholes

Eric Djemba-Djemba

Am I forgetting anyone obvious?

Carrick?

anyway, Casemiro trumps all.

look at this tackle (at LB!) that led to the goal yesterday:

And that’s just a snippet. He does this stuff casually, game in game out. But also, his quality going forward has surprised me the most.

I'd put Scholes as the best for his movement to never be easily tracked, ball retention, vision, dictating the tempo, long passing accuracy, the odd wonder goal.

I never thought CRonaldo would go to Saudi Arabia or MLS, maybe it just means he's given up on top level football or was always full of shit, or both.

Both him and Messi are easily bought with money.

Says 'a total salary of £177m per year once commercial agreements are included' on the guardian.

£20,000 an hour.
