A few comparisons.

 

Kodak Portra 400. My scan done on a £200 flatbed scanner (Epson V550):

 

Lab scan (done on a Fuji Frontier SP3000):

I don't think my scans are particularly good or anything, but I'm surprised with the lab scans, which I would have expected to be much better.

I don't think my scans are particularly good or anything, but I'm surprised with the lab scans, which I would have expected to be much better.

 

I think the lab's at fault there. Have you used them before?

Yeah. both labs.

All scans were accidental. The first two were from a lab in Thailand. My wife misunderstood me and asked for scans. The last one (from London) sent me a DVD of scans even though I hadn’t asked for it.

 

London lab fucked up this last time. Some of the negs have water streaks through them.

I used to use Peak Imaging for my C41 and E6 developing as i could drop the film off and collect the negs in person, but they went out of business last year unfortunately. Since then I've been using The Darkroom UK, who've done a good job. I just pay for develop only - not had any scans.

They look a fair bit cheaper than the lab I’ve been using recently!

Last time it somehow cost me about £70 to get 4 rolls of E6, and 1 of C41 processed and sent back to me. I think they might have charged me for the scans I didn’t ask for.

Always candid, unfortunately for any more info...I'm not the type to engage...if I did that all day I'd use up a lot of time. It's on them, if they ask, I'll give a card. 

 

It was Jesus that stood out for me. I got a few more but this indicates to me he's noticed (as everyone does) and doesn't mind, where the expression comes from. He was stood watching an lbgt parade.

Nice vibrant colours in all of those. I particularly like the empty tins and chimneys.
