Thanks to all the MNRC chaps last night, I had a good time and hopefully didnt punt too many people….

I had a nightmare getting on (incoming excuses…) as a couple of days before I decided my rig was terribly setup so I set about ‘tweaking’ it and ended up changing every singly contact point from lowering the whole seat frame to the position on the deck the wheel was sat, utter madness and probably had an hour before the MNRC debut! Just to add another layer of grief my PS+ ran ont on the 23/01.2023 - no worries, I will have until midnight…. Silly me, good old Sony - I couldn’t join the server without a sub so had to do a quick monthly sub to be able to play 🤬

Aside from all that it was fun, I’m the type who generally needs to build up with a new car / track combo so was pleased I wasnt being lapped, not so pleased about the MX5 / Tsubuka combo - love them both but I dont think ive ever taken the last ‘corner’ well and while that MX5 is a hoot to drive as soon as I get amongst the pack I instantly forget that if you so much as breathe on the throttle pedal its donut season….

GG all, will put some time in learning the tracks a bit better - my fault for only putting time into the TT!

Was good to have you, and nice to see you turn some of that TT pace into race pace too :)

My first Monday of the year too, and felt a but rusty at times but my race-long fight with Baukster around Tsukuba was pretty good fun.  For some reason we were both making the odd small mistake at the same corners so stayed about 0.7s apart for laps - great fun.  I do admit to just parking the thing on the final 2 apexes to secure the 3rd place though :S

Well done - impending doom is now delayed!

Great to have you, I had a pretty poor night last night, but I'm feeling rough at the moment with a touch of bronchitis (again...) so that's my excuses done too.

I'd say get used to things like the Roadster TC, and the Cossie as we keep going back to them, and obviously Gr. 2 / 3 / 4.

I too benefit from practicing, and tend to do better when I know what's coming, as I said later last night once most folk had left, jumping from ACC to GT7 I think is making me mediocre at both ;)

Thanks both - I was pretty nervous about it (which is silly as 90% of my gaming is online with chat) as didnt want to wreck peoples races but it was immense fun and has made me even more determined to get my rig as I want it (as in buy a new one) and participate more, the PC ACC chat was compelling esp as I have a Quest 2 so already have a VR route as I understand…

@Corranga TC? What’s that? I am ok with the Roadster but will put some practice in for sure, I have the Cosseh but never driven it and the GR cars im most comfortable with but plenty of room to practice - I dont race on the track we started on, not even done the experiences so will have some practice on them, of course that was my best result with a car ive never used and track I dont know short of historically poorly remembering it :hmm:

Roadster Touring Car ;)

Do the track experiences - worth it for the credits, and the learning, I forgot you'd left before we raced the Cossie!

I think none of us had used the car or track we started with

I got this for my birthday and almost didn’t play it because I was so tired but I decided to be polite and play it for my wife’s sake. I’m glad I did because some people called Sarah and Luca gave me a cake and a liveried Lancer for my birthday. All I had was a 2014 Fit Hybrid, which as a Honda salesman was kind of fun but it’s a shit race car

@Shimmyhill

Was good to see you there.

You done pretty well for your first time out, I suspect you'd have got second from me on race one had we not tried to catch Bart.

That Ferrari VGT went down so well Joe should make it a common feature /s@McSpeed

If had a pretty decent night for most of it slipping back at the end of the runs a lot on the A1 Ring (I know, but it will always be the A1 to me) in the wet dry track.

Thanks, i did feel I was a little quicker and had a master plan of working with you until the last lap where I would sneak past…. Of course at the exact moment I decided to go for it I entered my patented over driving style and fell back too far to go for a pass on the final straight 😂

On a GT7 game related note…. Getting a bit late in the north for the monthly update!?

Noted! Been looking forward to try out the Ferrari VGT, we'll do that again soon then :)

Join us Floshen! You'll love the racing with the group. It's slightly more serious compared to our GTA antics but always in good spirits.

They better keep using dynamic weather in the dailies now, as Race C is marvellous. To the detriment of my DR I’ve learned that it always seems to start dry, so Race Softs are the best tyres. I tried starting on inters a few times and it was never a wet track to start, so it seems it’s rarely/ never a thing.

Also the Bugatti, Ferrari and Lambo seem to have the edge on top speed - I’ll tell you why that’s important in a minute…

The other great thing is that it’s on the no chicane Le Mans track so as long as you’ve got one of the faster cars it’s a massive slipstream train down the Mulsanne Straight, ensuring everyone stays in a pack, then you’re free to focus on watching the weather radar until the rain hits ( if it hits) and then the gamble of staying out on Softs or pitting for inters.
Honestly it’s so much fun, the most a Daily Race has ever come to feeling like Monday Night Racing Club

I'm finding sport mode to be an absolute shit show, with people driving like it's bumper cars and the system for assigning penalties a complete joke.

Exactly my experience so far. I had one guy the other day on Laguna Seca hit me from behind repeatedly until I went off the track. I think he mistook me for someone who hit him off earlier though as we had similar cars, but still...

Which race are you doing?  Race A doesn't affect your driver or safety ratings, so people can sometimes be a bit stupid there.  Also, what's your safety (SR) rating?  If it's anything less than A it's worth doing a few races where you just hang off the back and get clean race bonuses to bump it up.  The racing can sometimes be better / cleaner in SR A lobbies as (I assume) people are doing their best to get back up to an S rating.

If you're doing Race B or C, and your SR rating is A or S, then... well... there's always some idiots around I guess.  That's why Monday nights are so good :)

I’ll be back in for MNRC in the next week or so. Need to get my wheel out as I’ve been on the pad so far doing cafe stuff and building a garage, so need to adjust to it. Also will be interesting to compare my Pad times to my wheel times.

Yeah it can be rough but like @Fretnoise says, make sure your SR is S. if it isn’t then just race to not get penalties until it’s back to S.

The matchmaking clumps all the banger racers together so you just need to steer clear.

Doing daily C is usually good as they tend to be longer more strategic races so there’s less to be gained by fighting for positions every corner, therefore cleaner racing.

There are always idiots and people raging and mistakes, but generally I’ve found the majority are just trying to race clean same as me.

Have p PSVR2 ordered and I really shouldn't do this but I'm going to ask about getting a wheel.

What is the best value wheel that will work with PC and Xbox too? Also is there a mount for it that can be easily folded in half and thrown under a desk?

Cheers

I don’t think there’s anything that works PlayStation AND Xbox and PC.

Most are PS and PC or Xbox and PC compatible, and it’s determined by the wheel base. An exception is Fanatec where the chip ( or whatever it is that controls it) is in the wheel rim itself, so you can swap rims to move across from Xbox to PS. Fanatec are mid range and above though, so when you asked for value it depends on your budget?

Sticking to GT7 compatible wheels you’re looking at Thrustmaster, Logitech or Fanatec. If you go on their websites or do some research you’ll see their models and prices.
Most come with a desk clamp if that’s what you’re going for.

Loads of people on here and in the Sim Racing Central thread who can advise and answer questions as I think between forum members we own/have owned nearly all of them.
I’d have a look, think about your budget and ask away.

Thanks for that,I'll have a think about it. Can't believe you can't use the same wheel on everything. It's USB after all. Miserable.

I think I'll wait and see how good the VR is and then go all out if it's all that.

Isn't 'all out' spending literately £1000s on rig, wheel, pedals, shifter, etc. ?

I was speaking to the guy at the Simply Race centre near here.. their gear isn't even top end but costs that kind of money

I bought GT7 today before the sale ended (although odds are there will be a new sale with a different name starting tomorrow) but no plans to start it until the VR arrives. I’m wondering if it will really be possible to play the entire game that way, including the license tests. If so I’m going to try and do it that way, should take care of the GT fatigue I was feeling after getting the platinum on Sport.

Nah, I'm not going that far. I'll get a stand which is about 100 or so and a wheel. Not getting a crazy seat rig, might as well just buy a car instead.

It sounds like it, yes. Last statement said everything except local split screen multiplayer
