Or should that be crispy wanking sock. Eww. Sock dandruff.

The use of 'crispyness' would suggest some level of grip as it sheds it's love nuggets across said polished surface. And yes, I actually went a little bit faster, I'm just not tempted to even try and go any quicker.

I finally managed to squeeze into the gold time last night, by about 0.02s...  so if those bloody aliens could stop going faster that'd be just great.

Thanks for uploading your replay @mexos - I'm still miles off you but just seeing how much you were playing with the car compared to how I was driving gave me the extra half second last night.  That and the fact I was braking 100m early for the chicane... :D

As a bit of a palate cleanser, I had a go at daily B - Gr3s around Trial Mountain.  Cars that can brake and go round corners - amazing!  Drivers who barrel into you at the slow corners, race after race... not so amazing.  However... there was absolutely no lag in these races.  Really hope they can get that same experience into the lobbies.  Monday was pretty good all told, but it's still night and day compared to the daily races.

EDIT - Of course they've gone faster... top time is now 1:11.385 which makes the gold time 1:13.526.  I'm 0.054s too slow...

Leaderboards are online, here: https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gt7/sportmode/event/4019/page/page/page/1

Mexos - you're on page 2:

@mexos thanks for uploading, I’ve not had time to play again but hopefully tonight will get on and snag a gold….

The daily races have never suffered lag in the lobby, it was assumed because there is no mix with ps4/ps5 players and loads of chat about it since launch - mad that they still haven’t got the same experience in the private lobbies yet :(

Cheers chaps! Nurburgring GP next so it says but they are keeping the car hidden for now. I don’t mind that, I need the practice on that circuit. The hairpin with its late apex and the top of the hill I’ve never really nailed. Really I need them to put the Sardegna (spit) layouts on so I can learn them for once and for all. St croix would be a good pick too - the long one.

Im not sure I've nailed any corner on any track yet 😂

I was just about to thank you @Fretnoise for letting us know the leaderboards are available outside of the game, and my surprise at how finally they are doing things like this.

Then I read @Varnsen ‘s post and realised that much like Nintendo online, they either haven’t got a clue or just don’t care.

+1 for more music rally.

That’s cutting it close, dropped half a second on the last sector with an awful last corner -‘ just don’t crash’ being the only thought but my word I was far too cautious 🤬

Sector wise I’m matching @mexos on the first, marginally ahead at times and pretty close in the second, 3/10 off on that lap and obv the last was a ‘mare but I said I have an hour to get gold and I’ve done it so I should give up really…

I would love to have some coaching just to see why I’m so inconsistent - I know it’s over driving but it’s being shown how not to I suspect!

I don't get to play this nearly as much as I'd like (between work, music commitments and non-gaming personal life, it's hard to fit it in) but this week I finally got around to finishing the S licence and the original 39 menu books.

That 917 is a bit of a handful on slicks in the rain, eh? (licence test S-10)

Nice work, that 917 is no joke. If you can drive that you can drive anything!!

I have exactly this too - more in the races mind. My time trial process is a bit like this - which helps me. First do laps. Just laps. Spin, go wide, whatever. Do laps. Get used to getting around the place. Don't quit out to the menu when you spin - get back on the track and do more laps. Don't even try to push it, just do laps and eventually you will do them consistently. Then pick a section of the track, say the first turn or complex. Watch what the ghost does. Do the rest of the track as you would but try to be more like what the ghost does in that section till you get it and you can do it better. Maybe they go wider than you, brake earlier etc. if you are miles away from what they are doing - fix it. Doesn't have to be perfect but close. Then move on to the next section. Trying to crack the whole circuit in 1 go is almost impossible unless you are Sir Lew. Break it down a bit, make it more digestible.

I can drive anything to a Bronze. The trouble* I have on Monday nights is you're all Gold-standard!

*At least that's part of my trouble. Doesn't quite excuse me pulling a Russell vs Sainz on @Varnsen this week - sorry dude!

If you have limited driving time, I'd honestly spend it on TT. Repetition and really starting to nail a car and track - it really carries over imo when you next do a different combo. I've noticed it - even going from N class cars to GR3. Always doing different cars, tracks you don't hone your basic driving skills as much imo.

Thanks, thats all good - I do tend to see what I can do and then try and beat it across the lap rather than breaking it down, maybe they should have sector times or something….. Do you always have a ghost form the leaderboard then?

I was going to do exactly what you said on the new TT; GR3 with RH on Nürburgring GP circuit - just drove a couple of laps but then had to stop so will get back to that plan!! Its going to be a good one tho, a car with grip is novel on the TT of late.

BTW, I love this game - I probably should play more ACC as the SP bit of this doesn’t really interest me that much, its all the challenge stuff and online when I get the time again (soon, getting used to new job now) but with my limited ACC time thus far I can already see you need even more time commitment to git gud!

Didn't realise initially that you can use any Gr3 car in the latest TT. The global leaderboard was all 911s at first and my friends leaderboard the same. Then Junker puts in a time in the Jag and I thought 'hacker'.

The top 100 is now got a bit of variety to it which is interesting. Quite a good change of format and I wonder if they've done that to get a benchmark for a potential BoP pass on the Gr3s. Getting the best drivers to push that class of cars hard on a pretty good test circuit.

Then I remember that it's PD and you can probably choose other Gr3 cars by accident.

So... am I the only one that went straight to the end to see how many people are trying the time trials?

About 100k is not too shabby.

I realise it's most probably someone simply messing around, but kudos to the person that presumably only did 1 lap, and took an hour and 20 to do it 😅

I know this thread is mainly about the online side of the game but just had to comment on a career race I've just had.

Nürburgring, two laps, Tom's Castrol Supra, night to day. Incredible. I mostly play with my G920, have a DriveHub, it works but fancied a quick few races without any faff so used the DualSense.

Utterly incredible race, the DS is a fine alternative, those triggers are pretty special with GT7. I am playing on an absolutely massive screen, 77", with a Hue sync light setup and surround sound which helped heighten the race, it was incredibly intense, much more so than usual. The feel was magical, total trance racing with what seemed like very competitive AI. The graphics, Oh my! Probably the best HDR I've encountered. I ogled the replay twice.

It really was a transcendental race. I've played and been impressed since launch but this particular race really hit the spot. What a game.

Carry on.
