I can’t play my £70 car game because they’re doing server maintenance. WTF.

You bought it for £70 so must have been fine with it being always online :)

That's why I'm not buying always on crap like that. Shame about the actual game.

I think that was his point though, it clearly isn't always online.

As a SP campaign I think this is brilliant, probably the first GT in many years that I’m going to rinse to the point last night before bed I thought i would have a quick 15 mins on the last licence… 96 miles later in the F1 car and I had to force myself to go to bed and could have played just that licence test for hours

Yup I did just shy of 700 miles yesterday 😬

Probably - something just plain went wrong. They can’t fix it quick. Boring.

Part of me thinks it’s more than that though. It’s been down a looong time now. I wonder if they are not only going to backpedal on the changes to PP but maybe even go the other way and make it more generous. Maybe even release one of those classic corporate ‘we made a mistake’ statements.

I haven't played it since Monday night. The more this kind of shit goes on, the more I'm inclined to think it's just an absolute shambles. Like it was when it spent fucking hours downloading when it didn't need to.

When it's good, it's great. When it's bad, it's bloody awful. Delayed for 12 months and what for?

I don’t think that’s completely fair. The bad stuff, while annoying, is pretty much all separated from the content of the actual game (aside from the mega barebones multiplayer). At its core it is a surprisingly polished and fleshed out experience already at launch, especially considering the state of most other games on day 1.

You literally can't play it today because they broke it.

A bar being set so low, a fucking mole would struggle to get under it.

They had, a perfectly functioning, fully working, easy to use, online game in gt sport. For god knows what reason, they decided to go in a different direction with it. Why? All you had to do was intergrate it into the existing game. Aside from music rally, which is total shite, there's really nothing new here.

It's still fantastic, but frustratingly so. Oh yeah, and today they broke it some more.

I can’t believe it’s still down and in the meantime I can’t race the AI.

Wtf is the need of an online connection to do the single player game. What a load of old shite.

Because they can’t try and tempt you to buy credit with money from the PSN store at every opportunity.

I Loved GT Sport and the community on here we built around it. Spent about 1000hrs playing it. Didn’t own every car in that, but to be honest it didn’t bother me.

I have the same mentality with this. Don’t mind a bit of a grind to get cars. I’m not bothered if I don’t own a particular kind of Nissan Silvia or something.
BUT the way they seem to be so bothered about trying to manipulate credits earned in their favour to push people to buy credits is hideous. And made even worse when the online lobbies and dailies are worse than what you’d expect in a beta test.

I really don’t understand how Sony or PD think what they’re doing here with MTX is in anyway reasonable or acceptable in any game never mind one that costs £70. The cost of credit on the PSN store is so offensively expensive that I can’t see many people buying them in any sort of quantity (hopefully) but I think there should actually be laws against pushing items of such cost in a product with no age rating, where you’re controlling the economy (be it only in a game) to artificially create the need for them. It’s pretty disgusting behaviour and I really don’t want to support Sony if this is the route they’re heading. To then have the infrastructure you’ve built to support this basically restrict people from playing the content they have paid for is unacceptable.

I’m not one to defend Sony and will shortly be having a post in the PS5 thread about what a shambles they and the new console are but…..

What/where is the push to buy credit? I haven’t seen anything pushing me too it and I’ve aren’t a decent amount of it from just playing the game - obv feck all from the rugged roulette wheel.

I don’t agree with MT in gaming unless it’s cosmetic so I can see the pay to win issues but this is a game that should be played for years and if someone decides to spend another £50 to buy cars then more fool then and their lack of patience.

Am I missing something?

nah there's no way I'm playing a proper GT single player mode that's always online, especially with Sony's record of keeping servers up.

i mean fair play, i didn't expect this to happen almost straight away

Every time you spin the roulette thing the window that pops up with your pittance of a win also has a button on it to buy more credits on the psn store.

Not sure if it’s elsewhere as well, but that’s the main one I’ve seen in the shore amount of time I’ve played.

The slight issue I have is in a lot of ways it's a Pokémon style collection game but the only way to collect them all is to either play for thirty million hours or spend a lot of money on top of what you've already paid to play the game even.

It's just a setup you don't expect from somewhere like PD.
