I've added you.  There's a Google Sheet I started for GTS with people's forum names and PSN names, maybe we could add it to the OP in this thread, @p1nseeker?

List of Gran Turismo Sport (and other racing games) players: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ylvz-j8zE5hzI9MPRIX84WysTmBrtf24CpWVfPXUefg/

Done 😃

Online racing being based on who has the best tuning is pretty rubbish, tbh. And there doesn't seem a way to check beforehand what you'll need to do to compete.

Daily Race C was BOP initially, now changed to BHP Limited or something as it seems there was a glitch that allowed you to add a turbo..

I expect they will sort it soon enough, though what they do with the tune fests that are races A and B, who knows.  I guess part of the fun might be in finding out the best tune, but in reality, that's just some googling and effectively makes the race at the front BOP'd, just with insane credit costs and horrible to control cars..

It's weird, you'd think that this would be a really obvious 'oh yeah, let's not do this' thing when it comes to the multiplayer design.

You'd think they'd also figure out that hosts in private lobbies might want to change the track too, but there we go ;)

as far as adding friends on PSN  and Monday Night Racing Club goes-

Joe_McSpeed @McSpeedgenerally hosts, but if there’s more than 16 turn up i usually host lobby B.
The best thing to do is get on our friends list and ask to be added to the PSN party -  it’s a bit busy but that’s where a lot of the chat about races and other stuff goes on.

On a Monday we use it for voice chat, and Joe will make you get your headset and join. Being able to chat or at least hear all the chat, makes all the difference - it makes it so much more sociable.

Racing is normally 8pm till about 10pm when the Dutchies start going to bed, but we also do an after party where we stay up late doing more silly stuff.

Please also add as friends if you just like comparing leaderboard times. On GT sport I used to screenshot the daily race Quali times on a Sunday night and post them on here. Once the dailies settle I might do it again.

Last thing- I uploaded a Rllmuk decal in game so look for that, and Fretnoise made some MNRC Monday Night Racing Club ones so you can find them from him in game as well.

The thing I really don’t like about the game is the tuning. It’s not the end of the world but it does take away something instead of adding to the game.

Enter race, try and do it with a reasonable car. Ok that’s not going to work, leader is pulling away even though I’m pushing. Quit, bolt a load of bits on, try again. Ok cool if I push I can bring the gap down. Meanwhile all the cars you are passing for 14th, 13th you are passing like you are in an SRT and they are in a Polo. I passed a Toyota Lemans car like that in one race and I was in a GR3 ffs. It feels hollow. For a good portion I tried to complete missions etc with a car as stock, give or take tyres. But it soon became impossible.

It could work if they found a way to hugely incentivise you to try to race in a lower power. Like it’s an 800pp race but if you do it with a 720pp car you’ll get x2 the points.

The big thing though, it makes the competition between us to get the best times in anything other than events where you are handed the car kind of pointless imo.

Tuning gets an all round big NA from me.

It kind of boggles the mind how they could have gone from a game which was built entirely around the online mode, and ran successfully for five years and use the majority of that game as the basis for the sequel, but completely fuck up everything that made the online mode successful.

Reminds me of how Ace Combat 7 included an online mode that had nothing whatsoever in common with their popular and successful online game, Ace Combat Infinity. PD really didn’t learn anything at all from Gran Turismo Sport that they could bring forward to the next iteration of the game?

Isn't that basically how all Gran Turismo games prior to Sport worked?

Not saying it's the correct way, just that that seems to be what the so-called "purists" wanted

Servers are down for patch version 1.07, which apparently fixes the tyre bug, amongst other things:

https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gt7/news/00_1764433.html

(which is a shame as I was really close to getting that damn Daytona drift mission done on the wrong tyres… honest guv)

Oh and the servers should have been back online at 8, so double the planned outage so far…  iirc they used to give you a car or some credits when that happened in GTS.

I've not played a GT game in a while. Do they typical add many cars over the lifespan of the game. I was hoping for more really.

GT Sport launched with 170-ish, and ended up with 300-ish. All the new cars were free with the updates - the only paid DLC was a set of Lewis Hamilton time trial challenges.

GT7 has 400-ish cars at the moment, although granted, about 350 of them are Skylines :)

They would tend to do a couple of updates a year with GT Sport in it's prime, a circuit and a trio of cars. I'd wager this will be the same. You'll be playing Nissan Silvia bingo on a mildly different version of the same car before you know it. They'll lob some paid content in there too at some point.

Ok, sounds promising I think.

As a SP campaign I think this is brilliant, probably the first GT in many years that I’m going to rinse to the point last night before bed I thought i would have a quick 15 mins on the last licence… 96 miles later in the F1 car and I had to force myself to go to bed and could have played just that licence test for hours

I seriously hate the roulette, yesterday 1 Star ticket = 5K and 4 Star ticket = 5K. I must have had 50/60+ spins by now, won one car (which I already had, not too bad I can upgrade differently at least), maybe 3 or 4 upgrades for cars I don’t own, perhaps one is something special, some sort of turbo that I don’t think is listed normally and the majority of the rest 5K with a few higher awards every now and again. I can’t complain at the number of cars the Cafe is throwing at me, so not winning many shouldn’t matter but somehow it’s spoiling the experience. Perhaps I’d be better off just ignoring the tickets.

I think most of the problem is that it's presented as a roulette with equal odds when it's obvious after a couple of spins that there's a probability of getting the different prizes and cheaper ones are more likely to come up than a new car or whatever.

The whole experience of this is shite - it looks terrible, i assume the work experience kid did it and why does it take 3 days to actually happen!? Forza Horizon spins add a bit of drama, looks good & often gives you really decent stuff where this is pathetic in every way.

Talking of pathetic, the update took less than 30 secs to download and ive given up waiting for it to install as we are past the 10 min mark - its also preventing a game downloading ffs, not specifically a GT7 issue of course but takes the shine off my otherwise glowing view of the game.

I can’t play my £70 car game because they’re doing server maintenance. WTF.

They’re not doing server maintenance, they’ve screwed it up with an update, part of which apparently nerfs payouts. It’s hilarious.

Wow online games are Annoying!!

one of the things that gets on my tits is the fact there’s no quick way to get to tuning. You go to a race and realise you need to buy stuff but you have to button out and go into the tuning menu then wait….is it no less or no more than 1,000kg? Button in, button out, right I’ve got 78 BHP, wait, I can’t join cause I’ve got 80BHP? Ok, go to the quick tune menu and deselect something, re select it, measure and we’re back to 78BHP woohoo!
