Of all the races, licence tests and missions, the one I’ve had most trouble

with is the 2nd Drift mission you come across, with the Mustang at Daytona on Race tyres.
Worse than Music Rally and the Rally challenges put together times one million.

Agree. What a load of unmitigated shite. Drifting, you have no business here!

Right, so trying to get my PS5 and GT7 working with my sim rig just isn't going to work (far too much money on Drivehub, new TV/monitor would be required) so I'm going 'all in' on learning how to drive with the pad now.

How many of you guys are playing on pad, especially the Monday night racers?

Also, can I ask how assists work in the game?  Is there a concept of factory assists that are needed for certain cars?  In ACC you use varying TC and ABS values depending on certain conditions because GT3/4 racing is based around using them (you'd be slower using no TC in a real GT3 car); should I be doing the same here?  i.e are some cars uncontrollable with the assists off?   Or is it much less nuanced and a case of using as little ABS and TC as I can get away with for more speed?

In GT Sport every assist off except ABS was definitely the quickest.

It’s early days for this but it seems that with the GT7 physics model being a bit different ( as you say) using TCS in cars that would use it in real life is more realistic in this game? Not really sure as I’ve only unlocked a couple of Gr3 (GT3) cars.

The latest patch caused the wrong tyres to be put on the car in that and other licences/missions/circuit experiences. Spent a while trying to get gold on that drift mission before I found out and gave up, was the last gold I needed for that set as well.

Oh man!!! I saw the Road tyres on the rally missions bug, didn’t realise this was a thing as well. No wonder it was so tough

I'm on controller.

I have the auto counter steer setting setting turned off, ABS on and change the severity of the TCS depending upon the car.

This. I've done things in the new game you couldn't and wouldn't get away with in GT Sport. Take that Supra race the other night, on some corners I could make huge gains, yet in the final hairpin, the best way to get round it was to yank the handbrake on. You just can't get the steering lock. It's certainly weighted in favour of the pad from what I can tell. My license tests and missions have been by and large very easy.

Thanks for the Mustang drift info, I was ready to launch my dualshock last night.

I actually managed to gold that one last Thursday night late, despite have the wrong tyres on due to that bug.

Took me about 97 tries, but actually did it 😬 Very happy with the reward cars for that mission chapter.

Roll on Gr. 3 races this Monday night!

I'm sure that roulette thing is fixed if you bought the deluxe edition and started the game with 1.5 million credits. I am up to the cafe guy asking me to widen a car so I've done a lot of races and every single card has given me the lowest prize. Just had a four star one that gave me a measly 30,000 credits. They might as well have put me in the stocks and thrown rotten fruit at me.

Makes no difference if you have the deluxe edition or not, it’s absolute garbage for everyone.

Have they sorted Sport mode yet? It seemed a bit of a mess last week.

Given it's 5 years since Sport the game seems a bit underwhelming. Sport mode has regressed if anything, there's few cars newer than 5 years old and even the soundtrack rehashes a lot of tracks. There's just 3 new tracks above GT Sport levels too. Given they started to outsource car modelling about 4 years back I expected a fair bit more content.

I know it's PD but it's a bit flat once the initial enjoyment of Menus passes. Might sell and pick up in 3 months if they sort it with new tracks, cars.

I just won a McClaren on the roulette wheel. I’m in shock.

you need at least one person to win something other than the lowest amount, once. So from a thousand players, you’re probably it.

but remember, you can always buy credits for real money.

Running this in HDR on a base PS4 seems to cause it to start rendering internally at 2K (i.e. the mode for the Pro), with a massive performance dip and really ugly scaling artifacts. Ugh.

Edit- No, it still insists it's in 2K in SDR. Maybe the text just looks bad in HDR at this resolution and 2K is its way of referring to 1080p?
