Is this worth a purchase on PS4 if you already own GT Sport? Or are most of the best changes the next gen stuff?

There’s a proper career which is good fun so far. In game - actual racing - the graphical differences aren’t hugely apparent once you get going at speed but the haptics are a game changer, I reckon. Plus the loading times (or lack of them) are a godsend

Just got an invite to buy some Ferraris. Cheapest on is 1.5M credits :( Invitation expiries on 18th March. Given I've been playing this for around 15 hours and not bought any cars and just upgraded a few I won to make competitive I currently have 600K. It would take a fair amount of grinding I think. Even the roulette tickets are a bit rubbish. Had two 3* tickets recently and surprise surprise both yielded the lowest amount of credits.

Refuse to buy credits from PS store and won't have the time to grind up the credits for the more interesting cars so looks they will be forever locked for me. Bah. Hopefully the prizes might be more generous as time goes on...

Pedal fix success!!

Easy to take apart, a few sprays of contact cleaner on the potentiometer and making they gear teeth are lined up in the right place on the pedal gears. Less than a tenner and 15 minutes. 🙂

Had a quick go for an hour and worked perfectly.

Well done!  Chasing the golds is really addictive! Although after getting gold for all the B license lessons decided to just do licenses now when I need to progress the game. Although just getting past the licenses at the moment will go back at some point to try and gold everything to get the cars!

Just as well it doesn't have snow and ice.

Could imagine Polyphony then giving you a robin reliant without tyres and asking you to do the Ring' in under 10 minutes.

Trail braking seems to be more important compared to GT Sport, and (when you get it right) will mean you can brake later and still make the corner.

There are also lots of better brake parts in the tuning shop, about an upgrade per “tab” of the shop. If you’re in the dailies I’d expect most people to have unlocked the “extreme” tab and to have all the best parts.

Thanks. This helped. It looks like to be competitive online you at least need every upgrade possible which is kind of annoying as it’s (in-game) expensive then.

:) indeed always the problem online. People out there seem to have lots of time to grind this! I feel guilty enough spending a fair bit of time on this recently but I am full of cold so self isolating with the PS5 and GT! :)

Found the biggest PP gains per CR are tyres. Upgrade these. Also get the best brakes you can fit. Suspension upgrades help too - if you get adjustable ones you can configure them in the garage! (You can create different setups for different circuits if you want to go to that level!).

Oh finally turbo and superchargers give a nice boost too just make sure you upgrade the brakes at the same time! :D

I know Elden Ring is of course the superior piece of videogame artistry but I’m putting far more time into GT7 and this is 100% on the same level of sheer authorial precision as any Metal Gear Solid game. Yamauchi feels about cars and music and driving in that period between the sun just going down and it being completely dark in just this particular way.

And it’s delightful. I apparently don’t need 900 cars and 50 tracks to be happy. I think the career mode lacks the deliberate, “this is my one car and I will tune it to buggery so I can win all the races” focus that made the first Gran Turismo such a singular work of videogame perfection but it’s definitely pushing all my buttons.

S-10 Gold in the bag ta very much and goodnight. What a game this is. At times it feels impossible but then it just clicks.

Licenses are deffo worth grinding through, a couple of nice cars up for grabs.

Yeah I’m really enjoying this, I’m impressed it has been able to take me away from Elden Ring for the time it has!

Progression balancing is good (hey this is a CaRPG after all!), handling model is solid, and all the various presentation elements are slick and with suitable love of the source material.  Core graphics are unfortunately a little hobbled I think, perhaps a function of the game being cross-gen, but I’m over that in favour of the whole package.
Will be doing my daily miles for some time I think.

A-9 for me. Had to go down to the pub for tea, spent the whole time wondering what the fuck I was doing wrong. Conversely I pissed through A-10. I'm going full Terry's on this, all gold.

I think this is looking superb so far, I finished up last night doing a couple of sectors of the Brands Hatch Circuit Experience in the Radical, fantastic 😁.

We took out the Radicals in our first online races last night, around Deep Forest Raceway and Tsukuba. Absolute bliss

So here's another question - does the save transfer across from PS4 to PS5? (I didn't know there was going to be a PS4 version until a couple of days ago so I really haven't been following this that closely) I'm very probably going to get the PS4 version and then upgrade later on.

I'm playing both the PS5 and PS4 version, and I'm able to switch around to any version when I feel like it. The game automatically syncs up you save whenever you play the game on the other system than before - in-game, so not the usual PlayStation Netwerk way. So it seems your actual save is very much in the cloud rather than just locally.

@McSpeedWhat have you got to complete to unlock the online mode? I'm currently lagging way behind everyone else. Finished the third licence test last night and unlocked the tuning shop.

Keep playing the GT Cafe objectives. You unlock online lobbies at mission 8 I think. If you focus on that, it can be reached in 2-3 hours from the get-go.

Are you playing any select cars? Can you join and play with 'loan' cars, or are they all forced/matched for same spec?

No, you need to own the cars you use online, too.

My recommendation at the moment:

- Get all golds on license tests, at least National B and preferably International B, as that'll net you really nice (race) cars.

- Buy the Radical SR3 at 126.000 cr, decent money for an excellent cup racing car.

I'm loving this, it's just so accessible and I don't have some dudebro constantly screaming at me about fucking energy drinks or something like seemingly every other racing game these days.

A question though - I know fuck all about cars, so tuning them and buying upgrades is beyond my level of comprehension. When I played the old GT games (1-3, I never put much time into any others), my strategy was just to buy one of everything that increased my BHP. I'm a little more nuanced now, and understand that I need to buy brake pads and stuff too, but what do I need to keep in mind in how I approach this? Also, should I be looking at actually fiddling with the tuning menu rather than just slapping upgrades on my car, or does this only offer marginal gains and can largely be ignored?

I can't do race club this week unfortunately, but I'll be looking to sign up for next Monday and get roundly destroyed by everyone!

@Keiths_Dad you can use your old approach, but just go for things that make your PP increase rather than just horsepower, as that’ll include things like brakes and suspension parts that’ll make you quicker without raising power.

That’s been enough for all the races I’ve done so far.

When you’re tuning and tweaking settings and stuff, you can press triangle to get another PP, so you can experiment that way too.

On one hand the in game economy is quite eye watering but on the other the ‘clean racing’ bonus is very generous for awarding it in many races where I’ve barged someone off the track.

It is but you rarely have to buy cars anyway. It's very generous with rewards for the cafe menus and races.

The roulette cards though are pretty appalling most of the time I get the lowest item available :( Just had a 4* card and won 5K credits. Again lowest thing on offer. However I have won one car. A pace car that is the only car in 10 or so cards! Think when you have played Forza Horizon with it's wheelspins this feels really stringy or Forza feels really generous. At least it's all car related things you win or cash thankfully. :)

You do wonder if we’re losing out by playing it early and they’ll eventually balance the roulette better. I’ve not had to buy a car yet either and I imagine by the time I get through all the Cafe menus I’ll have quite the collection, think I’m on menu 10 at the moment with around 900K. I have an invitation to buy the Citroen GT Road Car for 1M, they can keep it lol.

When does the Legends dealership open?

I think after GT Café mission 11 or 12.
