2021 was my least played FM ever. Steam says just 13.8 hours! I usually rack up hours into the hundreds. Because of that I've had absolutely no interest in this up until seeing that the beta is out and now my mouse is hovering over the buy now button while I watch a FM streamer :lol:

Unless they've changed it is n recent entries, if you don't want to wait for an edited database it's very trivial to just swap them into the playable leagues with a one line entry in a text file.

It's, as ever, an upgrade. Thoughts:

 

ME is really nice. Some good fluid attacks, better decisions, good goals. Corners are a bit OP but that is normally the way in beta.

 

New position in Wide Centre Back's- Go wide when you attack, narrow when defend. Can only be used in a back three. Work as intended but I don't use back 3s.

 

Transfer Deadline Day - Gone full muppet with it and it's actually really good. Fun to take part seeing rumours everywhere, agents offering players out etc.

 

Staff Meetings are good if you like that thing. Backroom staff advice in weekly/monthly reports. I ignore it.

 

Skin is the best one they have made. I'll still be getting a custom one, though.

 

Data Hub is awesome but I barely use XG and all that bolllocks so not for me. I plug and play and enjoy breaking the match engine so it's meaningless for me.

 

Haaland is fucking stupidly ridiculous. Near Unstoppable.

 

Being a beta, some bugs. It can hang on certain screens making you think it's crashed before it kicks back in.

 

Loads of new responses to players/press conferences. Basically say the same thing as previous but its appreciated.

 

Regens look the worst they've ever looked. Like cavemen. Laughably bad.

 

Feels like the 'best' version so far. I've already done about 15 hours on it. 12 straight today, but I'm an FM fiend. I've broken the ME with a one CB formation.

Started with Man Utd. My only target was Rice and got him for a structured £90m so now need to decide if my usual 4-2-3-1 is going to work with Rice and Pogba at CM or I need to go Rice CDM and trust he is enough in that role to let Pogba and Fernandes fly free as fairly attacking CMs.

 

Fucking Football Manager man. Love it!!!

The Transfer Deadline Day set-up is pretty good isn't it? Had a lot of fun with that as the summer window closed in my Man Utd game. The way the rumours emerge and you can see different parties taking action is great. I had no intention of doing any business on the final day but when Haaland appeared on the agent section as testing the market I went sniffing and, eh, got him 😲 I had to use 'Interact with the Board' and didn't expect it to come to anything but a few mere hours later it was confirmed. I'm sure this is the kind of thing that wont be allowed to happen post Beta, or maybe Man Utd in the game are actually doing things they should have been doing for years. With Haaland coming in my signings ended up - 

 

Already In

Ronaldo (£12.75m)

Sancho (£73m)

Varane (£34m)

 

My signings

Declan Rice (£91m - Structured deal with majority paid up over 3 years)

Gianluca Mancini (£16m)

Haaland (£99m Board handled finances outside of budgets and confirmed contract)

 

So all in a whopping £315m spent this summer 😂 with only £50m coming back in from the sales of Matic, Fred, Jones and James. If I dont win the win something and then win either the League or the Champ League next year then I should delete the game and never play again!

Not had the pleasure of playing a match with him yet as immediately went into the International break following the transfer window and not progressed to the next league game. On paper he looks absolutely ridiculous and for £99m without any real battle with other suitors for his signature something must be slightly broken, but I'm not complaining :) 

 

Will provide a report on how he settles in.

The incredible start to the season continued through October up to the next International break. My delight at signing Haaland was dampened somewhat when he got injured at the end of his debut after grabbing a goal and 2 assists. Out for 3 weeks but future GOAT for sure! In fact, injury frequency is the worst I have seen it in a long time even in a Beta with me having to deal with new injuries to Haaland, Pogba, Cavani, Shaw, McGuirce (twice) and De Gea, on top of the long term injuries already in place for Rashford and Telles. Even with that my results have been exceptional to the point where it feels like something isnt right but I'm not complaining :) 

 

CR7 has been sensational, Mancini looks to be an absolute steal for £18m playing incredible beside Varane in place of McGuire and Rice is the understated central part to the entire plan. Pogba and Sancho have been disappointing, which makes perfect sense but Pogba was happy to sign a new contract at the start of the season so he clearly needs some careful management.

 

Oh and match engine wise I'm playing on a fairly basic laptop in terms of graphical output but its clear the animations in-game have received a healthy improvement.

I'm struggling a bit with Spurs. Can't find a formation that seems to be in any way consistent (realistic perhaps?)

My assistant seems to be constantly telling me to change players and tweak my instructions. Is it worth listening to him or just plodding on with my own choices? 

Anyone got any spurs tactical advice?

The pc pre-install has a countdown clock on it. I think it may be around now that the clock was timed to. I'd check but unfortunately  out for another couple.of hours then have work to do. Probably won't get to be able to play until Wednesday afternoon...but then Forza will be out too and I'm trying to finish a plague tale. Aaaagggghh, game pass overload.
