"Now complete with NONE of the songs you remember!!!!, as we've been ripping them out of your completely legitimately purchased digital versions for years!!"

Yeah, fuck that. And fuck Take two for demanding moddb remove mods for the old game!?!

Wanna play em like you remember, PS2 version, emulated...*sigh*

You can even play all these on the Vita now, based on the Android version.

I just have this feeling they'll do the minimum required to get these running properly on current consoles, are probably unable to wring any more life out of the originals.

Would be excited about this if it had online multiplayer. In fact I'd rather they just opened up Liberty City, Vice City, Las Venturas and whatever the San Francisco one was called in GTA Online.

Just playing the same games again that have all been rereleased constantly since they first came out? Not that interesting to me.

I hope if these are ‘proper’ remasters, that they make an attempt to remove some of the more problematic content in these games which haven’t aged particularly well over the last two decades.

What's the problematic content? I can't really remember, apart from beating hookers to death. And I'm pretty sure that's still present in the latest games, so I wouldn't get too hopeful about it!

Is there something even more terrible that my brain has blotted out of my memory?

I tried playing SA on PC and the controls were janky as fuck (even more so for a GTA game). If this fixes them I'll be all over that.

This is exactly what I thought. It’s genuinely hard to play the PS2 versions with their original controls. Just a basic option to switch them to modern 3D controls would probably sell it to me.

Rockstar following the Nintendo rerelease/remaster pricing there 😄

GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas are currently £30 for the trilogy on PSN, so this would need to be one hell of a remaster to justify more than double the price.

You guys know that Carlospie was making a joke about how this could be £70 right? It’s not been announced.

Which Unreal Engine though?

4 if it’s nearly ready to release, it must have been in development for a few years and 5 is still in beta.

I’m not too confident with this release. A week or two ago I read another rumour (most likely on here) that San Andreas Remake was just around the corner and that they were using the GTA V engine and its physics and controls. That sounded a lot more promising to me than what we are hearing now. Also, the fact it’ll be released on Switch might also be an indication that we wont see any version running with high res textures.

On the other hand, if they fix the controls for all three games to play more like a modern 3rd person game/GTA V, I will most likely get these as the ports available for PS4 are really hard to play for me, especially the RC plane and helicopter missions.

I’m pretty sure the Switch can handle slightly better textures than the PS2

I don’t think a remake of a GTA game is really viable, even the PS2 ones. They’re still pretty massive games, it’s an enormous task.

Yeah, of course. What I was thinking of was more about the possibilities there are in remaking the old GTA games and it would be nice to get something a bit more modern than the Switch is likely to output but I'm aware it's all about the business and I do understand they want to get as many sales as possible.
I just hope it isn't a lazy port, we've already had those for years now.
