This feels more Halo than Halo Infinite.  It’s such a blatant rip off, I don’t know how they get away with it. Still, I can’t stop playing it.

If they can get away with ripping off Portal, right down to the shape and colours I think being a bit like Halo is the least of their worries in that sense.

Had a go last night and being a big Halo fan I did enjoy it a lot, however as with everyone on their first go it was very easy (assuming bots). It's got a nice clean look and I can see once people get the hang of it that the portals will introduce some great options. However they need to get this out and working all the time before Infinite is out otherwise I feel it's not going to get a look in.

I really have been enjoying this, but it feels like a fleeting sort of enjoyment that'll be stolen away by another big FPS multiplayer launch. Halo Infinite being the most obvious one.

It does work really well though and setting up a lovely through-portal sniping spot feels genuinely wonderful every time I do it.

I tried it out for about 5 hours last night and agree. It's great fun but I don't think it will be a staple for me. I think the vehicles and weapons in Halo add that element of chaos and hilarity that Splitgate can't quite get with its portals. Still a great laugh though and definitely recommend checking it out. Looking forward to hitting level 10 to check out the other game modes.

How do you fire portals by default on mouse and keyboard? On controller its very natural because its on the shoulder buttons letting you still keep aim and shoot on the triggers. I imagine without a multibutton mouse it might be a bit of a faff to take your hands off movement to fire portals on m&k?

They are on Q&E to create and Z&X to remove.

This is really great. The guns feel satisfying, the maps are surprisingly well designed, the game modes are tried and tested favorites without a single dud and it’s all stripped down to the bare essentials in the best possible way. The portals are well integrated and provide some substantial extra depth without overcomplicating things. It’s hilarious how much is directly lifted from Halo though, even the names of certain guns and game modes are exactly the same.

Presentation is very barebones but once you’re shooting, the visual clarity is much welcomed. Everything is super readable. Love how you’re always playing as blue against red too, great feature that I’ve wished for in many other games but haven’t seen in anything else that I can think of.

This is probably the first FPS multiplayer game I've gotten stuck into since Unreal 3. I was attracted by the Portal gimmick, but it's just an incredibly well balanced arena shooter.

It's clearly a little low budget and I hope the extra attention the game is getting allows the team the resources they need to upgrade the presentation a bit, but overall everything fits together incredibly well.

Been playing this for a few days now and it's... well it's absolutely incredible. It plays amazingly, it looks a little low budget but that means the maps are clear and concise and you can see goodies/baddies without having to squint. The game modes are really interesting, especially Team Shotguns and Snipers which I am somehow completely excellent at. Having the portals there as a crutch to fall back on just makes everything feel amazing. I tend to fire off a portal somewhere straight away and then just have the second in the locker while I'm roaming around the maps in order to make a quick getaway if needed. If they can support it and keep things interesting I'll be playing it for months. Especially considering I'm two days in and already pulling off really fun moves like these;

I'm really liking this. It seems nicely balanced and I never seem to win or lose by a massive margin. And the lack of killstreaks is such a good idea - you get a nice flow to games.

I do seem to get stuck in one gamemode sometimes - like, I'll play 5 games of Shotguns and Sniper Rifles in a row, then 5 of the discoball Capture The Flag. Anyone else get that?

A friend of mine and I dived back into this last night (we used to play it 3-4 times a week) having not played it for a good 6 weeks or so and immediately noticed the (recently launched but complete news to us) season one improvements. Graphically it’s been given quite a going over with plenty of textures, detailing and nice effects being added to it. Indeed both of us got killed a few times such was the distraction of just looking around!!

There are also a number of new game modes and the core gameplay mechanics still felt as good as ever. If it’s slipped off your play list then it’s certainly worth taking another look and if you’ve never played it before then I’d certainly recommend checking it out as it plays really well :)

Ooooh just seen there’s a map / level designer in there now. That could be fun!
