I utterly fucking adored the first Dead Space, but I secretly hope that this gets stomped by Callisto Protocol.

I'd say the same if this were a blatant lazy cash grab. Judging from the info and media released it's the exact opposite. I hope both find massive success.

The Ishimura is now fully interconnected, so you can walk from Point A to Point Z visit theentire ship, and revisit locations you've already completed to pick up things you might have missed-that's all new. It's now a completely unbroken experience”.

This is the kinda stuff that should be more common this generation. I'd take that over a slightly shiner whatever

Yeah, companies like EA being successful with big single-player games like Fallen Order and possibly this is bound to get them to try making more single player stuff and not just GaaS. It'd be be great if we got to the point where they are able to consistently release both styles of game.

Looks great but not sure my old, squeamish, I've now got kids can play this again but I'll hopefully give it a try.

Was it Dead Space that had one extremely annoying turret section or another game? I can't blood remember any of it tbh.

Not a massive leap. Think this is a pass from me.

Can’t help but agree. Super faithful remakes feel really pointless to me.

Really hoping that Resi 4 will be full of surprises.

Don't you have to shoot asteroids in the first one? I remember that being annoying as fuck.

Possibly. I remember a really annoying turret bit in the second one early in when you reach the base that drove me up the wall.

Might of been one in the first too…it’s been well over a decade since I played it but that bit in the second has stuck with me (probably turns out it was in 3 now and I’m misremembering entirely!)

I hope they're holding back on new stuff just to surprise us. There's no way it's just a straight remake, unless their idea of a fully-connected ship means you get to move around in the trams while they go to the next section. I don't think there'll be a lot, but there's probably a few new corridors and rooms that lead back to old areas in hopefully entertaining ways.

Looks almost too faithful ? I recognised every location in the trailer and even the gun sounds are exactly the same. Thought this was going to be more of a reimagining than a 1:1 remake. Classic game though. Well worth it for new players

How many times did you play the original? I played it at release and can only remember a few minor bits so I’m gonna be fine hopefully!

I’m replaying it at the moment. There’s two turret sections and the first is a really annoying asteroid shooting gallery bit.

I read about what's new in this version (apart from the visuals) on Reset Era:

This is a last chance version of Dead Space. If this doesn't sell, the franchise is completely done.

New stuff:

- Isaac now fully voiced (no one wanted this)

- Reimagined zero-G sections

- No loading screens

- New side missions

- Base version is £70!

- Deluxe version is £80!

Looks like that's Dead Space sent out to die, then.

That's not entirely accurate. On the previous page it was mentioned Isaac only speaks when spoken to or when a situation clearly demands a response.

Don't see the problem with him being voiced. They already did that in 2.
It looks great. Day 1 for me as a huge fan of sci-fi horror.

People who say it's not a massive leap must be close to blindness. It's a staggering difference, the lighting alone is miles better and more atmospheric.

Why not both? This is clearly made by people with a lot of affection for Dead Space and if this does well, we might get more Dead Space in the future,

I’m fully on board, I adore the original and this looks like remade by a passionate team. That said, 70 quid is pure robbery and part of me wants to flip EA off.

But tis Dead Space, the first one and the best one 🥰
