Oh lordy, got the e-mail for my 512GB model. I've had funds in my eBay bank account for most of the year but I'm slightly short now as I wasn't expecting to get the e-mail for another month or two. Looks like I'm going to be selling some more stuff this month.

Enjoy guys! I’m glad I went for the 512gb model in the end, I like to play the more demanding games that take up a lot of space plus the non-reflective screen is actually pretty good for me when playing in the sunnier parts of my home.

There’s a closed beta for Disney SpeedStorm, the upcoming f2p Mario kart-a-like that runs pretty well on default settings on Deck. I was accepted into the beta instantly from the steam page.

Not having used steam before other than to register an account years ago I was over the moon to discover that my deck purchase had yielded me tonnes of points. “That’s gotta be worth a game or two!” I thought. But no. No it wasn’t.

I already have a frightening backlog on Steam, to be fair. If I sell enough of these trading cards I might be able to break even on the deposit though!

Having a Deck has made me spend so much more money, even with a disgraceful backlog.  And this sale isn't helping...nor is being able to seach by Deck Verified.  Not that it matters, as everything seems to work ANYWAY.   😡

 

I just started listing them all, but deleted as it makes look like I have a problem.

Is there a recommended SD card people are getting? I want to make sure I'm getting something fast enough, and it's a bit of a minefield.

If go with no less than a San Disk Ultra, but the San Disk Extreme. Extreme Pro are preferred.

Do we know if there’s speed diff between an ultra and an extreme? I remember seeing benchmarks that showed maybe 1s diff in a 15s load time.

I don't think much difference. I just got what was offered to me. I have Ultra for most devices and the Extreme 1tb for the Deck

I say San Disk as when they say A2 V30 (etc) you know it will be. 

 

Just get a reputable brand from a legit source. 

 

I've always stuck with San Disk as they very rarely let me down.

Sandisk are good. I was just hoping I could get away with an Ultra, but it does seem like the Extremes are the way to go.

An Ultra is fine to be honest. I was running that before I got my 1tb and I have noticed no difference in real world terms between the two in performance.

According to this article the difference in speeds between the Ultra and Extreme for game / Deck related purposes is negligible.

Depends on which model you ordered and at what time. Valve haven't even processed 2 hours of orders for the 512GB model yet.

Valve are fulfilling orders on a first-come first-served basis, and there's a separate queue for each model and region.

 

You placed your order ~7 days after they became available. So far, they have processed UK orders for the 256GB model up to those who ordered ~3 hours after preorders began. The percentage indicates how far they've got from order #1 to your position in the queue, assuming a linear progression (which it won't be).
