Sure, the Deck will definitely let you play it somehow, although I haven't tried it myself - you can register the game with GOG, and then install Heroic Games Launcher - which supports EGS and GOG games. Log in through that, install the game and play via Proton. There's quite a few YouTube videos on the subject of Heroic.

 

It's not as smooth sailing as a Steam version, mind - you'd have to add Heroic as an application to load from SteamOS, and it would have to build a shader cache as you play, so it will be choppy as you play.

Got it going with no real bother, runs better through selecting gog installer on steam once installed, had to switch a lot of stuff off to get it running reasonably well....it was horrendous at first...framerate atrocious, seems to run between 35-45 fps on the settings I selected.

 

Not bad for 12 quid at cdkeys.

 

N64 emulator is as sweet as...but just about to give up on xemu....put everything in data folder (at least what i think phawx is saying, his youtube vid wasnt big on details) but won't fire up now at all.

I ordered the 512gb model on 17 July (08:46) so I assume I'm going to get my email fairly shortly.  I'm not sure I want it - Would it be easy to pass on or buy on someone's behalf?

Yeah, it's worth remembering that the 512GB queue ended up being a fair bit longer than the 256GB queue in the end. Regarding passing on the order, I guess you can - you can put in an entirely different address and payment details from your usual Steam basket stuff.

 

FYI @bradigor - I found out from Reddit that an older version of Proton-GE (7.3-GE-1) makes the cutscenes visible on Blur.

 

It's not perfect as it plays in black and white (the cutscenes, not the game) and some graphical effects are a little glitchy in scene transitions, but it's heck of a lot better than a blank yellow screen when it's explaining how to play the game.

 

Currently in a bit of flux on what game to play next. Probably will be Blur, or I get back to GTAIV so I can clean out the internal drive.

 

On the other hand, the new Path of Exile league is Friday after next, so I best clear my schedule anyway and keep to 2-3 hour stuff!

Orders went live at 6pm on the 16th, so I'm not sure orders made two hours later are imminent. If you're still expecting a Q2 delivery, I'd wager you're waiting until June, not May.

 

I only bear bad news because I'm still Q3, but I also think you should cancel your pre-order.

I preordered my 512GB model at 18:09 on 16/07/21 and I've not had any email yet. I tried one of those prediction tools where it analyses your order number and where you must be in the queue, and it reckoned I wouldn't see an email till late June. So I wouldn't all go getting your hopes up guys.

I've managed to get PlayStation Now installed but seems to be having one of two struggles - either it's not recognising inputs (both in mouse or gamepad modes) when a game is loaded or it gets stuck in an infinite loop trying to close the previously streamed game.

Has anyone else who has got it up and running, could help me out or provide any suggestions please?

Paid for it immediately- when, approximately, can I expect it in my hands next week? And do you get much control over delivery date (I am, typically, away next Thursday and Friday).

You'll get an email from Parcelforce when it's in their end of customs. From that point, you can inform them to leave it until a certain date via a link in that email.

 

(Although they did ignore it and deliver it straight to me, although I was in so no problems with that - probably because I put the request in advance and it wasn't read)

Ridge 7 seems like it's physical only, so it'd take some hoops to try it.

 

I had a look at Daytona - it's got some heinous flickering textures, but outside of that it runs full speed. And from reading about it, the flickering can be remedied, and it's just a problem with the current version of the emulator.

Mine turned up today, week from order to delivery. Impressive!

 

Bigger than I expected but also lighter than expected too. Really comfortable to hold. I like how they've evolved the haptics from the Steam Controller too. I swear it makes hard drive spinning up noises via them as it boots up.

 

Initial updates took about 20 minutes and it's now downloading some games to try out. It's an impressively consolised PC. I'm already flitting between input methods organically without thinking about it.

 

Nice to see some of my own games are listed as great for deck. Be interesting to see how the Transformed launcher works on it!

Question though: is there a recommended approach for getting standalone exes running? Is it to use Lutris?

 

Outrun 2006 would be a good example of this. I'm guessing Lutris etc sort out missing dependencies, where to look for DLLs and stuff.
